I personally think it's just fine how it is... JH + MCG are better at it close range depending on how you play, but the Lasher is more versatile - which I think balances it. It's definitely not any good past low medium range, but it's DECENT (not godly or necessarily overpowered) against vehicles if they're standing still and MAXs.

The MCG would be awesome if you had boxes of bullets that were 100 and not 50. Then I wouldn't have a problem with any of it, but when you can carry 3 boxes of JH ammo, 3 medkits, and 3 boxes of phoenix ammo and have plenty of ammo to deal with most stuff, that kind of irks me. If you did that with the MCG, you'd have 150 to 200 bullets depending on if you carried a med app or some engie juice or something, which is not enough seeing as it takes about 40 to 50 bullets to kill a moving target. That thing burns through ammo like none other. The other problem is that that lasher can use the same ammo and be pretty good, not ungodly it doesn't tear through stuff like people say, but pretty damn good at killing a max or vehicle. It absolutely is the king of close quarters fighting too, but that's fine, it should be damn good in a hallway. With the JH and MCG you have to carry armor piercing ammo, which is a whole other box, to even have a snowball's chance in hell of killing armor, and it's probably not going to happen even then. So, up the ammo count on the MCG boxes and I could give a shit less what they do to the lasher. The only thing I'd wish they'd change about it is lower damage at range, like most other weapons, or not, doesn't matter. Just want the MCG to be comparably cool. As it stands right now most people will save the 4 points and just use the cycler, cause the MCG is like a souped up cycler that burns through ammo quicker.
And by the way, I love the pulsar. Made a VS guy on Markov to try the stuff out and didn't even cert in HA after using that thing. It's COF is awesome and it fires really fast. It also has a good clip size. I don't see why more people don't use it, because I was kicking ass with it.

Yeah I agree I like the Pulsar a lot... but I just don't find myself in situations where I should use it instead of the lasher. Also I only use agile instead of reinforced armor now so I don't have the 2nd rifle slot. Before I carried it around for medium-long range since the Lasher really sucks for that. I think the Pulsar is my 2nd favorite VS weapon. I might use the Lancer but the huge ammo boxes w/ only 6 in each really leaves you no space for anything else.

Is the nerf set in stone? Yes. Sporkfire's state of the Lasher post made that clear: ".... the Lasher as it had been on Test Server this week will be the Lasher that goes live. We feel that the weapon has struck an even balance between the opposition. It remains deadly and versatile, while inline with its counterparts. As we do with every weapon, particularly after an adjustment, we will be continually monitoring the Lasher to make sure it remains effective relative to the other Heavy Assault weapons in actual play sessions.
