rocket launchers

reading the tank thread, i was reminded of some recent experience with battlefield 1942. mainly, rocket launchers are meant for armors. their blast radius seems very limited and weak. i wonder if all the anti-armor weapons will behave the same way in PS.

The VS anti-vehicular MAX's weapon looks like an advanced form of napalm, so that should have a reasonable explosive radius since its time based as opposed to direct damage.

I hope so.

This makes the weapons used for only it's intended purpose

I hope they have incindiary rounds available for some of the weapons such as the Rocklet and Thumper. Would be a nice consalation for not flame-thrower.

I think the AT rckets shouldn't have too much of a blast radius...

Little clarification here. The "blast radius" for most personal weapons is generally a rough estimate of how effective the shrapnel spray will be when the weapon detonates. Weapons like the panzerfaust or panzershrek or bazooka were not built to spread shrapnel, however. Their explosive charge is extremely potent, but their anti-infantry capability is limited unless you get a direct hit or very close to a direct hit. So it's not that the weapon is weak, it's just specialized. That being said, rockets in PS may work in a realistic sense, or they may work in a generic FPS sense. Meaning, they'll either have a very powerful hit, but a very small area of effect, or they'll be powerful and make a huge, flashy explosion. So it's a matter of how realistic they want to make their anti-armor weaponry.

It'll depend on the rocket tho. I suspect the decimator will have a really big blast radius.

Yeah, decimator will probably have both decent anti-infantry cappability as well as great anti-armor abilitys. It is desposeable after all.

It'll probably be a funny thing when people try to test using that out at the very start of a battle , 20 people all fire them near the pile of soldiers then switch to real weapons...thatd be interesting to see...

It would be funny when those bunch of guys with decimators out get ambushed and raped bcause they were prepared for real combat.

Besides, the thumper and rocklet will probably be better at softening up infantry because you only need a couple of guys to carry them, and they are multipule use.

Yeah, as cool as it might be, the decimator will only be good if you find a large group of people to shoot it at. Because it takes up a rifle slot, and is only a one-shot weapon, so otherwise it would be a waste. This makes its uses somewhat limited.

If anything else you can always use it as mobile artillery. But, most anti-armor weapons tend to have a specialy shaped warhead to focus all of the explosive power on a single point for penatration so there's generaly not a lot of a blast radius when using them. Rockets, mortars, grenades, claymors, mines, etc . . . are made to have a better blast radius because there used more for infantry for fragmentation depending on the design. Beam weapons are all up to the devs of a game cause there's no real world data on them to study or go by. Sure you have some debate on beam weapons cause there hasen't been a real world test using them and are mostly based on physics.

Hard to say for beam weapons, they might all work like the plasma grenade if it has fragmentation...

Kinda like a spit wad, you have a force holding it together in one big wad, then on inpact. . . . SPLAT! Kinda like napalm but, burning hot plasma.
