Are 7-day Trials Not working anymore?

I recently downloaded a 7-day trial for my brother on my other comp connected through a router. Everything went well until I put in the key, it said that it was invalid. This is very confusing and am wondering why this happened. I still havn't found out why. Please help! thx.
