Mine was set to 64 and I upped to to 128, logged in and flew around the Sanc' in my reaver for a few mins, I was getting FPS of 60-90 there (it was quite empty) and FPS of 100-120 indoors. These rates are about 20 FPS than I was getting before in so hey, every little bit helps in a large battle right? This tip comes under no warrenty, it has not been officially commented on by any member of the PlanetSide Dev team, and I only tested it for a few mins - use at your own risk -Kornflake |

Do the extra FPS make things run that much smoother? I'm thinking about putting in a new graphics card with more memory since my old one also might not be as good. Does it help in battle any better? ALso I was thinking about getting the new card to reduce video lag.

If I remember correctly, if it's beyond 26 fps the human eye can't detect it. The thing is though, when the game bogs down the FPS drops, The higher you get it, the higher it will be when it drops. If you can keep it high enough so it doesn't lag then you are sittin' pretty.

I know many people who can't stand to look at a monitor w/ a refesh of 60Hz. Give them 85Hz and they are fine. I think most eye experts and computer vision experts say that the percieved differences trails off at 60-80 fps for the average human. |

I believe that the 24fps thing is often brought up since most movie projectors operate at that rate. In a dark room, with motion blur, 24fps is as good as the real thing to the human eye. On a CRT, with ambient light, it's an entirely different issue. Especially since most games don't have motion blur from frame to frame like film does.
