I have a character that I use as a cloaker and I've been getting some real fun out of it. My favorite use for this character is solo base defence. When the Vanu zerg takes a continent I'll move in and stay to defend any base that has an open link to another continent. Especially if it leads to the TR or NC Sanctuary, you usually don't have to wait long before one or two guys come from the Sanct to start reclaiming bases. As long as you're not drastically outnumbered you can have a field day setting up ambushes. With the Interlink Facility benefit and the proper application of surge to get you around the base you can easily take on 3 or 4 guys all by yourself and hold them off for a long time. In my experience, it's actually pretty rare that you will have to deal with any real organized group for awhile.
My favorite weapon for defense is the plasma grenade. Two will take out an Agile and three a Reinforced. If you attack from behind, you can usually hit someone twice before they can react. If you attack from an elevated position, such as the walls, they don't have a chance. Plasmas make quick work of enemy cloakers. If you don't have Darklight, the area effect and burning animation are a lot more useful than a pistols pinpoint acurracy. Especially if you're both surging and zipping around like bees. The rush you get from taking on 3 or 4 guys by yourself and kicking their butts is great. If they have a spawn point nearby, you're garunteed some nonstop action. Quick thinking and immediate improvisation will keep them jumping and disorganized and you'll be very busy trying to cover all entrances and the CC. Like anything, you're bound to make a mistake eventually, but if you can keep the heat on for 30 minutes or more all by yourself, it will feel like a lot longer and I guarantee you'll feel like you've had a great game. |

You add Combat engineering you can do even better. When i am solo defending a base, I put mines at every door... not to kill anyone (unless they are stupid) but to see where they are coming from on the map.
You can use your spitfire turrets too to find out the direction your foe is comming from the sound they make. When people take out spitfires their attention is focused on the spitfire... not on the boomer that just appeared under their arse. I have even taken out maxes solo by using boomers... but usually try to avoid them. Ninja Engineers rule!

I watched that video, and all I have to say is damn... I'm highly impressed with your skills. My favorite part was when you took out that MAX by using the Voice Macro to get it to stop and then layed the boomer. Classic. One that only a master could perform. I started a alt character because that video made me miss cloaking so much. GJ. Mordith |

Yes Rev, you are imenselly talented at using the Boomer to kill people and terrorize spawn rooms. I personally cannot be that effective with boomers in spawn rooms and just avoid that type of Infiltration alltogether. Much more of a Pistol guy myself but bravo on the video and leet boomer skillz
