I hate Dell.
Anyways, does anybody know anything about low profile video cards, cause thoes are the only kind that fit in my Dell 4300s. I need one that will be able to play Planetside.

To play planetside well you're going to need a beast of a card. I doubt the gf4 and radeon 9700s will run it with > 40fps all the time (like in battles). So I highly doubt anything low-end is going to run the game decently. You will probably want to consider getting a new system. If you can't do that now, wait until the game comes out and see how it runs on what cards, and buy off that knowledge.

Think how much would be involved having a large base, 20 people on screen (I bet that will be common), and a few vehicles. That's all in addition to the trees and terrain (which has a large view distance too). I bet it will be quite demanding.

Well we'll have to see. They did say they were tweaking the game to be a little more friendly to fps but hopefully it's pretty good. My system shouldn't have any problems with handling it but I'd like to squeeze out as much power out of my system for the game as possible.

I don't know, hamma has played the game and he said that he thought the game should run fine on geforce 3's and up. Of course you can't have fulls screen aa and all kindsa fancy shit on, but that stuff doesnt' matter for gameplay anyway. Whats the pricerange you're looking at for a new comp? Let us know, we can name some parts and dealers for you. Call dell also. Ask them what Graphic cards your mboard will take.
The Radeon 9700 pro is 320ish, 350 retail. The 9700 allinwonder is about 400. If I were you, and strapped for cash but looking at upgrading, I'd say get the 9500 pro. It gives you alot of options, and direct x 9, for about 150. It's a really good card, and I'm sure it's better than what you have.

I guess that personally since I'm going to be paying per month for this game I want it to look pretty at a semi-hi resolution. Gameplay is the most important, yes, but this is a very pretty game and I'd want to see it.

If i could get a new comp i would be all set, i know lots of places online that custom build them cheap. My fav is www.cyberpowerinc.com . I would get a Radeon 9500, except they dont fit into my comp! I think im just gonna sell mine a get a new one. If anybody wants to buy a Dell 4300s cheap just pm me.

Even though you probably don't think your tech savvy you could probably build yourself your own computer and save a LOT of money. It's better in so many ways too. You know exactly what parts you have, you learn a lot, and custom build comps are a real babe magnet. (well, maybe not all of them...)
