Has anyone seen a full review of this game yet? I know it hits stores in just a few days, went gold several weeks ago, and yet I can not find a review of it! Just previews with a lot of assumptions.
I am hearing from the previews that the game looks to be a fantastic strategy game, even for those not huge into the MTG scene. Squick |

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! wat are u saying, look at it like this, MTG is a fairly popular card game with about 5 million players world wide, if it becomes popularized like pokemon and yu-gi-oh, it will explode then die out like all the rest, it must remain hidden, u say a game is coming out? like on the computer? this must be stopped, if word ever leaks out... all will be lost...

??? ???
There have been numerous computer versions of MTG before and it's still going strong. In fact, Games magazine just inducted the 10-year old game into its Hall of Fame joining only 22 other luminaries such as Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, and Axis & Allies. Haven't seen any reviews yet but there are previews for this game.

MTG already did expand like the peice of shit pokemon and yu-gi-oh games. The thing is, those were games made for 8-12 year olds. Once you get a thimble full of maturity and brains you realize "wait a minute. this game is completely retarded!"
MTG, however, takes some hardcore strategizing. I won't go into HOW MUCH strategy it would take, because several 300 page books have been filled with info on it. Anyway, back to original topic. MTG did expand rapidly about 4-6 years ago. Alot of stupid shits started playing. Luckily, those stupid shits didn't understand anything about tactics so they quit early. Now they play games like yu-gi-oh, pokemon, and that one Gohan mentioned. |

Also, a lot of the players who were good at pokemon/yu gi oh and whatever ended up playing Magic.
I don't play it so much anymore, I still have all my cards but I don't like many of the new sets and it's hard to find a mature casual player to take on. Most of the people who play in my area scare me. Like the guy who sold his car to buy magic cards *shudders*

other than cartoon or kids books, all the other little kiddie games never had books, just tv shows where 2-14 year olds watch, MTG has REALLY GOOD BOOKS, not tv shows, like try and think of a good story line for MTG on a tv show...
"Ha ha, i will use my Plated Spider with its 4/4 stats and ability to block flying creaters on u!!!!"

Wtf are you people talking about. Magic the Gathering Exploded when it first came out like 8 years ago.(I dont remember how long anymore) Long before pokimon or Yugioh. MTG gave them all hte idea to make pokimon and yugioh. And it came form games like Masters of magic and the other turn based RPGs of old. (And masters of magic isnt anywhere near the first games that started this. Thats to damn long a story to get into.)
And I played MTG when it first came out. And spent hundreds of fucking dollars on card. Last edited by Ait'al; 2003-11-15 at 01:02 AM. |

Wizards of the Coast didn't buy all the companies they did without a hefty chunk of change. MTG was absolutely enormous, including US military leagues, etc. It's still the best CCG, but the market is leaner and meaner.
My Platinum Angel/Oath of Druids/Gaia's Blessing deck will make you long for your sideboard. Of course it hasn't tasted blood in years, but I like to buy new cards for it once in a while. Back in '94 when people played for ante was the height of the game, then everyone started getting overly possessive of their cards and it became wimpified. Six Darkpacts in a 40 card deck will do that to people, I guess. We used to have some killer games of drinking Magic. Lose a life, take a drink. Deal a damage, take a drink. And of course the smoke that the Shivan dragon breathed got everyone baked.

Six Darkpacts would be illegal. No more than 4 of any one card in your deck
