well a .ppf is like an update file. only its unofficial. and its usually used for mods. go to halomods.com
and no sound whatesoever anywhere.
not in halo
not in planetside
not on my desktop
not when i start windows
not when i start aol (well if i was stupid enough to get aol anyway) and i would get the "you've got mail" message

BUT
the sound is echoy and i can barely determine what someone says on teamspeak unless the speak slow and very articulately...
is there a possibility that there arent any updates for my sound?

If there was any software for your onboard sound, other than drivers, you might install that and see what you can do. It sounds like maybe it's stuck in one of EAX's enviromental modes.
