Does anyone know of any free online multiplayer games. I am talking about games aling the lines of runescape. I know runescape is gay, but that is just an example. If anyone has ever played EV nova or any of the escape velocity series, then I am looking for a multiplayer version of that. Does it exist?
Btw, if you haven't played EV nova, by all means do. It is a sweet game. The graphics are shit, but the game has real content. and is very fun once you get into it. http://www.ambrosiasw.com/games/evn/ Edit: It dosen't have to be free, just something you download instead of go to the store and buy. Gogogo run-on power....
EV:Nova is a Space Combat RPG that lets you buy several dozen different ships, joined 6 storylines (each with around 30~ missions), customize every ship with a few hundred kinds of weapons, make a fleet of 6 friendly escorts (obtained by disabling enemies and capturing them), steal money from enemy ships you disable, join three minor storylines, and countless other mini-storylines and neutral missions. I fly a Nil'Kimas Raven named the "Flameseeker" and painted an ominous dark blue. I have 5 or 6 Capacitator Pulse Lasers installed, which suck so much energy that I need an Anti-Matter Reactor, Two Fusions, and a Fission reactor just to keep up. I also have a couple of Bio-Relay Laser Turrets, two Wraithii cannons, and a Polaran Multi-Torp Launcher. This ship comes with a cloaking device, an afterburner, and every Sigma Shipyards upgrade that money can buy. Its 200 tons of Cargo space has been turned into weapons space, to fit even more guns. I also can carry 20 or 30 Manta fighters, not sure how many because they're 500k apiece and I can't afford to replace them. I have 1 escort right now, my former Raven, the "Nevermore", which is also fearsome in battle. I used to have two Class IV Pirate Valkyries as escorts, but they were killed in the conquest of an Auroran outpost. (Did I mention you can take over planets? Including Earth, but the defense fleet for the Sol system is around 600 Federation Destroyers and Carriers.) I have a few other pilots, this one beat the Polaris Campaign. One of them nearly completed the Auroran campaign, but he missed the mission that gets you a very nice ship, so I dumped that pilot. One beat the Vell-Os missions, which is kind of a tutorial that can be beat without fighting. Another beat the Pirate campaign, earning him a fiercesome pirate carrier known as The Unrelenting. My other pilot is working on entering the rebel campaign right now, which is difficult because if you screw up, the Feds stick a bomb in your brain and kill you if you act up. There are hundreds of systems, each usually containing a few planets. There are trade routes, letting you buy low and sell high. There are pirates to kill or disable and then loot, etc... Missions are usually intense, once I led a huge Polaris fleet in a merry chase around their capital planet, before landing on it and gaining safety. You can even go asteroid mining if you feel like it, and most planets let you gamble on Viper races. Sorry about the 2-5 sentences, I wrote a huge essay because this game is so cool. I hope you guys download it and enjoy. (Note: It costs $30 to unlock the "Upper Half" of the game, which includes the end of all storylines, and most capital ships.) |

Live For Speed has a free demo, and is available to download for 12 (at current exchange rate - $21.23USD)
It's a racing simulation, there's no real cars (Licenses cost money, only 3 people are making the game), but there are some great things about this game - The most realistic physics to grace a racing game Nice graphics (Ok, so it's not important to me, I run it pretty low detail anyway) Exellent Force feedback A great community with tournaments, teams, and lot's o' fun. Ok, I know, I suck at plugs, and I pretty much suck at the game, but still, it's fun! Edit - If you want screens, I'll post some.

You're in the Federation Mission string it looks like. Were you working for the rebels before the Bureau caught you?
Anyways, http://www.ev-nova.net/ tells you how to get new missions. I got sucked into that once too, that was when I got a bomb planted in my head. |

Meh, I used to play this game all the time called Nexus.
http://www.nexustk.com/ It has SNES like graphics, but is quite involving and when I played, there were TONS of players on at any given time. It's an MMORPG. I don't know what it's like now, or even if anyone plays it anymore. Just giving you what I know. Edit: Whoops, it used to be free, now it looks like you get 10 days and you have to pay. Sorry. |
