Whoa - OK well lets see. I play NC so I can't give too much help, but I can give the following strats:
Against Mags, Vans - KEEP MOVING! Mags and Vans pack some serious hit power, and the raiders mobility gives them a slight advantage in these fights. However, from what I've seen if you come up against a fully armored Van or Mag, your best bet is to turn tail and run away. You're faster so you should be able to make it away. Look for weakened or under-manned vehicles. Against Reavers, Mossies - Well Mossies won't be too much of a prob unless there are like 3 of them. 1 should be easy enough to take down, so just keep moving in wide circles until your gunners pwn it. Reavers however, are an all-together different story. Gun it full tilt, then once you hear the rocket spam start, swirve uber-fast to one side to try to avoid the spam. Against Squids (Infantry) - Well...if you're a crazy bastard like me, dive right in and run them all over! However, if you don't want to do that, then strafe the battle field and let your gunners take shots at them while they run. Against Thunderer's, Aurora's - Well ok this is where the Raider truly owns. Ever time my outfit goes against a raider in a thunderer, we have to retreat. Unless a thundy can get a couple surprise hits in, it's almost guaranteed that the raider will win. Those guns chew up vehs fast. Aurora's suck at AV, so just pound then, strafe to avoid their arced grenades, and hope your gunners dont suck. I know it's not much, but hope it helps.

a good Mag driver will flitter along the edge of the battlefield attempting to engage enemy vehicles starting from 200m away. If you have 3 or four gunners, Mags are less of a problem then Vanguard due to the much less armour. If by chance you have encountered a less experienced mag drier, you will be within 100m and you have recieved less then 25% damage i suggest you continue to pursue and destroy. You can easily catch up to a Mag and you will harrass and harrass them to the point that they would either be destroyed or common sense prevail and they will be destroyed while attempting to run away.

Thanks everybody but
for mags i have heard to charge them, and ram them... is that right, or should i keep my distance (within 100m) btw, i heard the word strafe alot, can this thing really strafe, (remember i just starting driving yesterday) or am i taking the post to literal (plus i am new to the game, is that some kind of jargon?) What if it is against 1-3 infantry, against 1-2 i tend to just stand there, or slowly coast, and the guys will be dead in seconds cause no one is newbie enough to miss when standing still, should i do that? or should i request a deliverer devision with my outfit (God i would love some experienced drivers *drools*) what about MAX's against 1? (AV) against 3? against 5? thanks |

To "strafe" in a Raider, is to go parallel to the target to allow all your gunners to shoot. Always Keep moving speed and tight turning circle is your main advantages. Also engaging Magriders on water is mostly in your favour as a Magrider is much slower thus his strafe-dodging will suffer. In all if your too far away from a Magrider, run away, if your close enough get closer. Mine you, only attempt these things if you have four to three gunners. Against infantry, also attempt to strafe, if it's a lone gunner and you not in a heavy combat situation ypu can coast to a stop if you want, but it is alway not advisable. If you are heading towards a large group of enemy infantry, and the fighting is heavy, instead of pulling off and attempt to "strafe" past them, go though then. nothing like getitng a kill for driving, plus to stand still is to invite AV weaponary to target you. As for MAX it depends, if it is a AI/AA max, keep moving don't attempt to RAM as they can cause quite alot of damage. If it is AV, i suggest you flee they can hurt alot. But if you fancy your lucky, Circle the MAX at top speed from a distance of 30-80m, as a MAX cannot turn very fast. and if a MAX is running, well that is just a free XP point waiting to be collected.

Well said Cryptica. ^ Watch out for this guy, hes a tactical powerhouse!
Yeah, the Raider owns anything with all 4 gunners. Plus it doesnt have the vulnerability to air that the other ES-Delis have. Most importantly the most important thing regarding the raider is coordination. It is so extremely flexible, it can hit 4 targets at once, or focus on one target at a time. To do this you will almost certainly be in a TeamSpeak channel with your gunners. This way you can really coordinate the fire of the Raiders cannons. "Incoming bandit, 12 o'clock high! Gun 1 and Gun 2 engage! Guns 3 & 4 cover against incoming infantry on our sides!" Get a bunch of good gunners, assign them callsigns, use the clock-face method of target location tallying, and learn to divert the firepower of the vehicle in effective ways. When charging a tank, focus all weapons. When charging a much weaker vehicle with enemy infantry in the area, use only a couple guns to engage the vehicle and the other to fend off infantry. Practice and you will get better. Lastly, read this article written by the Devs. It contains some useful information as well. http://planetside.station.sony.com/g...=Game&id=61826 Black Hawks, masters of tactics |

Vannys - Shoot them Reavers - Shoot them Mossie - Shoot them Storming zerglings - Shoot them thundys - Run the fuck away. Thunderer will rip your ass apart. Really, all you need is to have your gunners on TS with the driver, and make sure you CONCENTRATE YOUR FIRE, you will rip through ANYTHING if you're all shooting at the same target. It's called the Battlewagon, anyways. Raider is a shitty name. By the way, Strafing in a vehicle does not mean moving sideways, it just means going by them really fast and firing on them before they get a chance to fire back. Usually it doesn't do as much damage as just sitting there, but you get out of there alive. |

Always think about what you are doing, try to avoid acting on impulse. Will that fully manned thundy kill me when I have taken damage and he hasn't? Will that bridge ahead be mined? (heh, dont ask about this one....) Raiders are an all around good vehicle, very forgiving as well. What I mean by that is that if your aim is off, not only can you quickly correct and spray more, you have 3 other gunners ready to kill it. The thundy has 2 gunners who have a shot about every second, and in that time, they have to deal with the movement of thier vehicle and the other vehicle. That is what makes the thundy's powerfull gun ineffective for AA use. I dont think I have had an aircraft kill yet, because once I get a hit (takes me anwhere from 2-10 shots) they hit the burns and run crying to thier mommys.
I like the raider more personally. Remember to never decon them so the NC can hack them =) |

One thing I can say is this: know the terrian you are fighting in. If it has many hills, try to stay at the bottom and drive in and around the base of hills (will give gunners an upward angle at the target, better if the target is at the top of the hill) as for wide open spaces, I prefer figure eights when fighting any sort of MBT, and large random course circles when fighting aircraft. Always keep in mind the mass of your friendly force, a tower, base, whatever. Mark it with a personal WP for quick recognition. Also, keep an eye on the veh's armor, when the damage gets between the middle gunners and the driver/front gunner dot's, get ready to run. Unless you are against truely overwhelming forces, this should give you enought time to make a get-away to your comrades for cover while you repair.
Couple more tips: I cannot stress how much it helps to have all gunners on TS. Being the driver you are responsible for getting the best angle on a target and getting to saftey ASAFP, keep an eye on your radar, Armor and terrain. Lastely, use water when ever possible, few vehicles can follow you and you can quickly get out of accuracy range of Vans and still do them damage, if you start to take heavy damage, make your way to shore. |
