Unanswerable Questions

okay the other day I started twitching when I began to think about this question. What is nothing what does it look like is it describible. IS IT??? we'll never know.

Post deep questions in here hopefully we'll all go insane the right way instead of going insane because we're waiting for planetside.

I'll start with
If we can't see, touch, taste, smell, or hear something does it exist?

BE SURIOUS cuz this can end up being pretty cool

Air. Nanites. Radiation. Heartache.

Nav, you can Touch, taste, feal, smell, or hear each on of those. Just not Touch, taste, feal, smell, see, and hear them.

Except nanites, which are visible with powerful microscopes.

The real question is:
If we can't see, touch, taste, smell, or hear something does it matter?

Ive thought about this a few times 2 , ok if nothing existed ,even the word nothing wouldnt exist ,no knowledge no but talking about it doesnt do it justice ,its thinking about it ,try to wrap your mind around nothing its is a hard topic

This does bring up many interesting question involving Entanglement theory.

To be more precise, how and why does observing something change its behavior.

For example, if you do a double slit experiment and you test to see that photons are passing through one of the slits, the experiment will behave like a single slit experiment.

And why does effecting (or destroying) an element of an entangled system have an identical effect of every element of that system (even if they are galaxies apart). Example: You have identical photons sent out simulataniously in two directions. If you change one, the other changes in the exact same way. If you destroy one, the other is also destroyed.

This raises new problems for physicists like how do we retrieve information from systems without destroying the system.

Entaglement theory is some freaky stuff, and it is hard to wrap your mind around. It is wild to think that every time you see something you are destroying entire entangled systems. If you are witnessing a celestial event you are destroying an entangled system that is spanning throughout the galaxy.

Yep, we learned about that shit in a security class. When someone is being tailed, they act different than they do when being taped, and even yet different when they walkinto a sting. All unbeknownst ofcourse. It's like a 6th sense. Scary to watch.

Sandy, explain to me how you can use any of your senses to identify radiation.

Entaglement theory is about the coolest thing going right now.

btw - how exactly do you 'feel' heartache??

Even easier for people (but actually the exact same thing as heartache)... what about thoughts in general?? People can't see, touch, taste, smell, or hear them. Are they there??

You mean you can't feel it when an alpha particle hits you?

Yes, as a former Navy Nuclear Propulsion Technician that was highly trained for 2 years, I would like to know as well.

PS
On our training submarine, there is a "tunnel" between the engine room and the "cone". Circulation is bad in the tunnel and it tends to smell of stale air. As a cruel joke, we would tell the newbies that it was radiation that they smelled. Most knew better, but some beleived it

Further, on my ship the some of the purple skiddles believe a TLD (Thermal Luminescent Detector) actually protected them. Yes, like a force field...

In theory, yes. Radiation generally comes in 4 "flavors": Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and neutron.
Alpha's are simply hellium atoms without electrons. 2 protons, 2 neutrons. They cannot pass through your skin.
Beta's are electrons. They cannot pass your clothing.
Neutrons are Neutrons. They will tear up your DNA.
Gammas are little packets of energy.

There are other kinds (neutrinos) but thats enough for now.
Since all the listed radiation except Gamma is a particle, they can be seen with a bigass Microscope.

A TLD is a Thermal Luminescent Detector. It stores energy (thermal) when "hit" by radiation. Later, that energy is released and detected as light (luminescent) to measure how much exposure you have to radiation.
Note that the TLD is placed on your belt. We had a catchy phrase involving this whole thing:
RADS TO THE NADS

Have you ever put your hand into a vaccuum tube? When you move your hand around in there it feels the same as when it is in open air. You don't feel the air (when you're not moving in a car for instance) you feel the heat loss, and fluid movement in your hand.
