does any one know if there is an openGL mode for PS? is it always running? How can i turn it on?

Frag is right. PlanetSide is built upon the DirectX 8 engine, and cannot be run with OpenGL.

buolt on DX9 and needs 9.0 installed to run, atleast for me

I'm pretty sure the engine is built in DX 8, but it may use some DX 9 effects that have been added after release (or possibly DX 9 performance enhancements)

A lot of people have had a sudden round of performance problems, its not just you. I believe the devs are workin on it.
