It was innovative yes but it was still a pretty damn good game to play when it got right down to it. If it had more exposure I think it could have been alot bigger. Unfortunately I stopped playing soon after the beta ended. It was still really fun. You'd set up large facilities and research weapons. It was like a FPS and warcraft all rolled into one but with the scale of something like PS but not neccesarily PS itself. Bunch of people communicating with eachother, forming alliances and what not. When I first saw the background for Planetside it seemed alot like 10six. Different "corporations" as opposed to different empires. Battle for supremacy of a continent but in PS's case it's on a much grander scale.

I know this a dead topic but I used to love 10six. While I no longer play I would point out that some of the major members of the community at the time actually bought the rights to the game after it was scrapped.
It is now maintained as Project Visitor http://projectvisitor.com/ It is largely the same game. Some of the original Corp Lords employed when the game was on heat.net are actually some of the developers for the game now. WrathX comes to mind. |
