It will get better, this is probably Alpha or early beta DoD source. I can tell because the basic mod source from the SDK is in play. They havent even fine tuned it. All mods during development have the counter strike money and the radar because its shared source code for all HL based mods, its the standard code base. There arent even the scope reflections like in CSS, I think right now they are just doing content creation. Where they have content and models put into the game but its no where near being fine tweaked. Even so, its going to be amazing. Im thinking this screenshot may be leaked though, because it comes from a german fansite's message boards.

Aside from the rifle having better light textures on it. I honestly don't see anything special about the pic. That map looks pretty bad for source. Looks alot like the original DoD.
But like you guys said, it's closed beta. Here's hoping the next pic won't be a dissapointment.

The rifle looks great, as well as the soldier, but the textures for the maps haven't been updated yet.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |
