The latest issue of the Official Xbox Magazine has confirmed an Xbox version of Half-Life 2, with some brief details.
  • Improved lighting effects, it looks better than on PC
  • Loading times doesn't differ from PC-Version, due to a new Streaming technology
  • The controls are adapted to the joypad, auto-aiming has been included
  • They are working on the airboat/buggy controls, because it is too difficult to steer and shoot on the same time
  • The Source-Engine has been adapted to Xbox, so Xbox developers can license it now
  • The textures are less detailed than on PC because of the ram (64 MB)
  • There will be NO multiplayer in the game, not even via Xbox Live
  • It's not announced if it will be possible to download new stuff, but there was no clear NO
  • Release date: Summer 2005 (USA)
Sounds interesting, I wonder how they will be able to pull it off on the xbox. I dont doubt their abilities, but I seriously doubt that it will be out this summer.

Misc Info

I'm sorry but there is no way it's going to look better, or play better on the Xbox over the PC unless you have a craptastic machine and can't play at all.

It's easy to do relay Bio, the Xbox is basicaly a very crapy DX7(8?) machine. Ports form PC to Xbox realy aren't that hard. And Source has proven to be imensely scalable, and playable on almost any machine they just fiddle around with some optomizations and wala.

But if you have it for PC i wouldn't even bother with the rent.

Thanks for the info, but I thought I was gonna buy it but I dont like single player games all that much. I'm pretty sure the NO multi part is because Counter Strike 2 will come out for the Xbox that'll satisfy meh needs.
