I think I've devised an "Evil Empire" vs "Jedi Knight" combo for Ogame.
Evil empire is early high all metal crystal deut mines. Whatever comes out to what you need, i should say, but a slightly higher focus on even robust resources as early as possible. Then you skip the MLs and go straight for Light lasers tech tree along with the earlier shield gens and basic layout to get other fighters as soon and evenly as possible. You do that in combo with an even availability for all as many ships as early as you can through research with low espionage in exchange for more intelligent defense against anything light and then Focus early oh high shield low to mid armor and low or very late attack for early game. Use the armor to backup the shields lack of use for LL VS LF fighting and then use HL for if they try to get HF. The rest is sort of an RP of the evil empire going for an early death star.
The Jedi Knights are Initial high minerals with advantage of less tech and the cheaper mine with Focus on high Armor med weapons and no or low shields to counter the defense of the Evil empire specifically. They go all around low like tech and do shields later to focus on lethality against the advantage of the early shield med armor of the evil empire. (High fighters if you can really just jump up in minerals and amass a nice well upgraded initial fleet to assault the empire with as steadily as possible.)
The Empire would do a slow even upgrade to get as much tech while the Jedi stay low tech (except for the ships lethality) which would be lower shipyard research etc until they need it against the evil empire. More or less following behind to keep a higher ship count or jumping ahead to do an early bash in attempts to cripple them somewhat. Then you have the back and forth dance.
Against the other games designs. You have a decent defense from everything if you are diverse enough and a low resource count as Jedi (but you will need to stay mobile so high duet after newb)
Does that sound realistic?
And Jedi is higher espionage until the empire decides to try to match theirs. I think in the end they try to even out in their own ways until they are head to head fighting.
Jedi try to get their resources form killing the empire while the empire trys to use as little as possible to starve the Jedi. The Jedi also try to kill as much defense to starve the empire through extra waist on defense and what ships they kill(which the empire trys to use less of the save money) which is the reason for the focus on high armor weapon attack tech. On top of that they both subtly change armor upgrades based on what they see in battle to counter or up the other and not die. I think Jedi would go for more early settlements and maybe more spread out where the empire would do that or slightly more clustered but maybe not that much(I don't know about that area though)
It's sort of the high generalist combined with high defense adantage(but short of a turtle)(The Evil Empire) And the Extreme Raider combined with specialized focus on the empire and some other general stuff.
