The "In-Concept" section of the official site has been updated with Merit Commendations which proposes to have awards in the form of Medal to show off. Dogtags and uniform addtions are part of the plan.
Commendations will be awarded to players, based on successfully meeting certain objectives. The system is intended to provide some context to the various actions that players take in the game and award them for hitting certain milestones in the characters life.
The game servers will keep track of various achievements that a player makes. These achievements may take several forms, including:- Number of kills: A straight up measure of the number of kills a player makes.
- Successful use of equipment: Whether this is for killing others with a specific weapon, successfully reviving with a medical applicator, or hotdropping troops from a Galaxy.
- Territorial Achievements: Awarded for successfully capturing or defending certain facilities, or facilities on certain continents.
- Time: Commendations for long-term service to one Empire, perfect attendance, etc. Combinations: Commendations that are earned by earning a combination of two other commendations.
- Some commendations will require two steps to be earned. For example, earning a medal for sniping may require that a player first score a certain number of kills with a Bolt Driver over its lifetime to qualify. In order to complete the commendations, they will then need to make a smaller number of kills in one life.
Displaying Medals The Character Info Pane will feature a Display Case, where a player can select three medals to display to others. Commendations will be on display in three locations:- The new section of the Character Info Pane noted above. It will display all of the commendations that a player has earned and progress toward others that the player has qualified for.
- A shoulder pad will be placed on a characters model that will display three commendations of their choice. An extra space will be available for a Veteran commendation, which is displayed on characters created under accounts that are at least one year old. The Command Rank shoulder pad will be replaced by a pad that is distinct from the standard infantry pad to display their medals.
- A new interface to be released later called Dog Tags, which allow other players to bring up information on a given character, including Battle/Command Rank, certifications and Commendations. This feature will be implemented after the release of Merit Commendations.
This sounds really cool and it should be really fun to show off our 'uber-ness' to everyone.
