The fight was fun to watch. I guess it ended quickly in the second round? how many rounds do you fight? Also, I was curious, you stated something a while ago saying that amateur mma was banned from Quebec or just Montreal? What are you doing now? Have you had any other fights?

Yeah it ended in like 30 seconds in the second round... a stupid mistake from me, I went into the single leg pickup and when my head went onto his side when it shouldn't have and he went for the guillotine... try defending but was too late. I went there with 2 days prep so it isn't that bad... I mainly have experience in jiu-jitsu and nearly no stand-up/ring experience. I did some sparring but it isn't the same.
The main factor was being lied to... I was told he had no experience (like me), next to no preparation and then learned in the fighter's lounge he already had three fights under his belt and was actually training for this fight for 3 months... heck he fought another time during the night. And you can see he's a bit bigger then I am.... not much of a factor but it still weighs in eh. For the illegal thing here's what happened. Know how the news try to blow up everything? Well our shit got popular and what happened is that they tried to dig to make us look bad... it worked because they did their research badly. So UMF (the organization that does the fights) hired lawyers and the such and it was proven we were perfectly legal. Now the national news chain aired an excuse... but only in Sherbrooke... just enough to cover their asses. So now people in the rest of Canada thinkks were illegal but we aren't... I'm still training but this time harder then ever... I'm running alot and trying to get as in shape as I can. Hitting the gym real soon to get more muscle mass. Still doing the jiu-jitsu. Will probably be working with a stand-up coach soon too... if I can find the time. I could be scheduled to fight in august but I'll decline because I wanna be in better shape then this.

Ah ok. Yeah that's how all media outlets are. I did a huge 30 page report on media outlets in the U.S. and Canada. The conclusion I came to was that the only real difference is the crimes they talk about as the primary story. Obviously it goes more in depth than that small statement. I'm just summing up as small as possible.
What do you think about the Fedor Emelianenko v. Tim Sylvia this Saturday? I will be in NYC watching it with my brother. I did not know much about this Fedor guy until my brother told me earlier this week. I do know who Tim Sylvia is, though. I'm excited to see the match. |

I'm gonna go and say Fedor will win by unanimous decision... I could be wrong though. I predicted Griffin vs. Jackson correctly so I shouldn't be too off the bat with this one.
Fedor is just a monster! I would of liked seeing him fight Randy Couture like he and Randy wanted but thanks to the jackass' over at UFC HQ... not gonna happen. That and he's one of big PRIDE fighters... those guys had it way more rough then the UFC guys... the rules were rougher, the fighters were usually monsters and yet he manages a 28 in 1 record? Nothing to spit at.

I did not expect Fedor to take down Sylvia that quickly. I was in NYC with my brother, and we had it recorded because we got back to his place late. By the time the main event rolled around, I had basically had to leave to catch the train out of the city.... Well, I didn't miss any of the fight. Fedor came out swinging like a mad man, took sylvia down real fast, and choked him out. Sylvia was in such shock. He couldn't believe what had just happened. I think it lasted a total of 30-40 seconds. The Andrei fight was great. He had the other guy beaten to a pulp.

Is AM full glove in all of Canada? That's a bummer. In most of the US it's usually shin-pads with regular Pro gloves, and at the worst 12 ounce MMA trainers.
Decent escapes out of what you did though. Good luck in your training. Btw, Kyonye... I believe the technical term for Fedors takedown was "smoked him in the face".

Yeah it's 14 oz gloves with holes for the fingers... kinda fucked with my BJJ. I think it's basically just a rule for UMF but it's the only AM group around.
No elbows or knees either . Next year once school is done I'll probably start seriously inn Muay thai with Bob Carver instead of screwing around with it with my current BJJ/KB trainer.
