So... Windows 7... yep.

I've been seeing some negative reviews of it, mainly comparing it to Vista. All of the positive reviews I've been seeing seem to be copy and pasted from each other... which naturally screams ad campaign.

Anyone have enough experience with it to verify it is actually worth having over XP... or even Vista?

It's the best MS OS yet, better than XP and most certainly Vista.

Been running it for a couple months here.

How much beating it up did you have to do though?

I've been using it since release, I love it. Never really had any problem with any version, but Win 7 is definitely a nice improvement over Vista.

I've heard it has even more invasive DRM controls, is that true?

I only disabled some services but I didn't have to do much at all.

As for DRM I don't really care about any of that, the OS works and works well.

I used it for a while during beta and even then it was pretty polished. Most of my programs worked on it just fine (with Punkbuster being an annoying exception) and drivers were already available for the OS.

In the end though, I don't really care to update from XP because I don't see any reason to do except the shiny look. Windows XP, as old as it may be, can still do everything you want a "modern" OS to do.

You're not tricking any of us Hamma, or should I say Richard Stallman.
