What about NTU?

So I was sitting down and processing all the info we have recieved about PS2 than I come to think about something that to me is quite pivotal to the original PS.

What about NTU? Will that be gone with the new resource system or will ANTs still be around? Because to me ANTs played a important and fun role in the original and it would be a shame to see this go.

Sorry if this has been mentioned else where but I could not find anything about it.

Maybe a twitter Q&A about the new layout?

Ants would be one of the things I would not cry over if they missed them out of PS2.

They said that PS2 would be more of a "re-imagining" of PS1. Perhaps in this version they take advantage of the planets resources. Auraxiam for example was one of the resources used. Perhaps now they used that instead of nanites. Who knows..

Yeah it sounds like they are replacing the generic NTUs with the separate resources.

i hope its still ingame, running NTU, and keeping a base fuelled broke stalemates, or rather not fuelled broke the stalemates. without it, or atleast some other mechanic, some base fights could go on for days no doubt.

Plus they add another layer to combat, if you know a base is low as an attacker you need to watch for the NTU solo being refulled, as a defender you need to be mindfull of it to and organise a gal escort with an ANT.

A NTU like mechanic is indeed cool. But having it more complex would also be great.
Idea: besides running NTU to bases for power, what about running ressources from territorys to bases a outfit can build, to improve its defense power? Giving ANTs some fighting power as well, and you have a trucker collum shooting things up on their way to the nearest truck stop.

I love this as well as how these resources will despawn and respawn in the game.

Oh hell it's like reform alcoholics taking that one tiny sip. This is negatively good news indeed

How about this. Normally, a base receives a trickle of resources from the lattice of connected territories and bases. During a siege, the enemy could cut the base off by capturing all of the surrounding territories, cutting off its resources.

In that case, the base will starve unless convoys of supply vehicles were able to make it through the enemy's defenses. This could another layer of strategic gameplay: blockades and blockade running

Which facilitys would be powered by NTUs? It seems like they want the battle to move across a large front line, a bit like WWII online but closer together. If a 'small bunker' is a capture point that dosn't need NTUs.

NTU wasn't mentioned at all while we were out here actually. Although it's on the question list you guys submitted (just no time to ask them all) so hopefully we can get answers later on.

NTU and ANTs will likely not be in the game. One of their big goals is to get people back into action quickly, and although ANT runs were awesome and crucial in some huge fights it was more often a dull boring task. Driving over a continent making sure all the bases are topped off without seeing one enemy is hardly fun.
