To me this would be the highest cert or achievement! Edit* for engineers!
To be able to make anything (within reason) radio controlled. Wall turrets, vehicles, doors? Spitfires?, the list goes on. But it would have to be done with some sort of range from base. And would render the player useless while in control mode. Its been done before in Fuel of war, and to be fair it was done well. |

You mean taking remote control of a turret without entering it, like with Landspike/Spider clamp turrets in Tribes 2 (IIRC)?
Remote-controlled vehicles would be a very bad idea, but doors and turrets sound very reasonable. There must be some kind of drawback to remote-controlling a wall turret, though. Maybe control lag or something? The point is that whoever blows that turret up will most likely not get any XP for killing a player. |

the problem is the same as a phoenix, you dont need to actually put yourself in danger to control it. As much as it may sound like you are being a sitting duck, the reality is you can sit safely behind your base walls, or even inside walls/base/bunker depending on limits. Or even if you need LoS you are still safely back out of the way, if you werent in a safe spot then you wouldnt be needing the remote control in the first place. Honestly the risk vs reward mechanic is what makes the game fun for both sides. As cool as remote items are to use, they create bad mechanics for those on the receiving end as they cant actually get to the one controlling it and therefore cant stop them nor get any xp.
I dont wanna say no, but i think we need to come up with some variations on the idea that makes for good gameplay on both sides, could be cool if you could do it right. Downsides have to actually be real, not fake ones such as those mentioned before such as "being a sitting duck" which in real gameplay arent true. I almost never ever ever die when using my phoenix. I die plenty using other AV, but there's no need to die when you have a weapon that works when hiding. I dont want that kind of thing coming back. |
