Timeline

Based around the multiple back stories so far, here is the timeline and a few relevant notes:

2345, November 28: Wormhole first spotted
2368, January 18: War breaks out on Earth, 6 great countries fight.
2444, March 16: wormhole spotted the second time. Probes sent through, multi-spectrum scans come out and scan Earth. Pluto is then destroyed the day the wormhole closes.
2444, December 19: Wormhole discovery announced, war ends.
2445, May 13: Armistice signed
2465: Terran Republic formed.
2542, July 3: Wormhole reopens for a third observed time.
2582: By this year mankind has colonised and terraformed multiple planets and moons in the solar system, including trans Neptunian objects.
2638, May 13: Human fleet of 128 ships sets out from Earth for the wormhole.
2670: Humans land on Auraxis
2845, June 21: PlanetSide 2 Backstory Parts 1, 2 and 3: Searhus: first armed conflict, uses weapons of mass destruction, between TR and NC.

Notes:
• Cyssor has habitation.
• Kane Prison Compound on Searhus “Mt Lavastorm”
• NC: Businesses and mercenaries.
• Vanu species died off 500 years before the conflict starts coinciding with the wormhole first being spotted, their cities on Auraxis are being excavated.
• Vanu the individual is apparently talking telepathically with VS command
• NC live underground

I hadn't payed attention to the timeline before now. So the Vanu civilization died out at the same time as the first portal opened? Nice.

Actually, I don't remember it being stated that we were scanned again when it opened the second time

Yes second time was the only time we were scanned, the first observed time it closed before humans could do anything. Third time appears to be the time we locked it open somehow and sent ships through, or simply sent ships through before it closes.

Well Vanu is currently talking to people on Auraxis, so I assume that just because there appears to be no living aliens on the surface of the planet doesn't mean they are entirely out of the picture.

That wasn't any problem for Obi-wan in Star Wars.

Vanu may be limited to little more than Obi-wan status, but that may not mean he can't scan earth.

I believe that Cyssor was described as being a civilian location back in the original Solar system, I think that it could be reasonable for the name to be used again on Auraxis though, New Cyssor?

PlanetSide 2 Backstory Part 1 – Jake Duffy, Terran Republic Quartermaster

[Genny] took out her tab and flipped through the vids of her family back on Cyssor and hopefully safe.

Wording makes it sound like a civilian settlement on a terraformed moon or planet. It has been stated that we are only going to have one planet at release with however many continents they want to start with. That led me to the first impression that it was something from pre-wormhole.

I guess it could make sense to have a civilian population separate from Auraxis especially after war breaks out, and it has been discussed and acknowledged that space combat and other moons and planets with different environments could be cool as fuck. I would be OK with making Planetside's largest land-mass continent into a small moon available later on, perhaps if they ever do an NPC invasion type event they could have a story that Cyssor had to be secured and evacuated, whatever faction/outfit saves the most civvies gets a medal. Once the civilians were moved to a safe place, the remaining soldiers can get right back to it and use the space as expanded disputable territory. You would have to make the NPC's pretty fierce if you want the three factions to not kill each other constantly during it even if you forced them to start from three farthest points from each other. I'd be down to murder the fuck out of some asshole space bugs a la Starship Troopers, make sure that we can shoot their limbs off and explode them!
