Now that this game is confirmed f2p, how about having some retail box that delivers premium with some goodies. This works very well for advertising. And even more, I'll gladly buy one.
So I propose 3 versions of the pack. Empire Edition design Front: - ES Emblem on the black background below planetside logo (all centered). - ES Slogan (lower right/left). - Roster of what it gives: - "X" days of Premiuim. - Edition Specific Poster (Picture like this + some visual editing.) - ES Sticker. - ES in-game vanity. (Like "Red Goggles". Oh, wait...) Back: - Empire-promoting game description. - In-game ES screenshots. - The rest is usual. PS This also brings up the retailer problem, feel free to discuss it too. EDIT: I'd gladly show you what I mean, but both my PhSh skills and laziness stand in my way. Last edited by NewSith; 2011-12-14 at 05:23 PM. |

I'd hope this idea would happen to some extent, but I sorta doubt it. A lot of extra work making the boxes and DVDs and getting retailers and all that. At best I think we will see a retail virtual copy on Steam/elsewhere, where we get virtual goodies, like premium and station cash and perhaps something to show we have the retail pack.

I'll buy whatever the most expensive edition is, (hopefully a steel case with your ES logo emblazoned on the front) but 'premium' would get me slightly worried. Having to pay month to month to get access to everything might turn quite a few people off, and while I'd have no problem with it, it'd be like a Combat Arms situation. You never feel powerful unless you buy the big guns.

This is a good idea. Not only for the extras but also some people don't have super fast internet connections so it takes a long time to download the client. Having it on a CD/DVD is a faster option to getting the game up and ready to play.

I think this falls under the preview of Merch. I'd like to see something like black t-shirts with ES logos or maybe a model like C&C did. I've got a hydralisk currently and would definitely be interested in some PS stuff.

anyone thought about designing a ps2-like gaming rig? I'm working on one now for myself. a black gaming case with LEDs that will switch between red, blue, and purple as needed, with a 2600k and a gtx 580. was thinking about making one and seeing if others would like one once I build the first one. if they work out, I wonder if Sony would be interested in maybe bundling the game with the rigs, or just take over the idea entirely? i dont know. just an idea.

I've got a silverstone raven mk2 which I'm quite happy with. Though now that you bring it up it could use some purple glow tubes and some teal disk lights. I'll probably just end up putting a VS logo on it's one blank side after I next upgrade it.
