Carrers (Role play element)


Just thinking about say a carrer level to fit the players style and also have a chance to add some background and mabey orginization to the game. These carrers don't necessarily give one player an advantage it is just a way to add to your play style and on how you want to play the game.

Kepping with the rule of 3.

Military: This is for those who say planetside is a FPS first and foremost and do not care about any type of roleplaying game. XP is only on kills and captures. Not exploring say monoliths or picking up enemy weapons. They do get a little more XP per kill but nothing else.

Scientist: These are the guys who like to get into the backstory and mabey do a little roleplaying. They get XP for exploring diffrent locations, picking up weapons, heck these are the guys that will end up driving the backstory.

Civilian: This is for the person who likes to keep his or her options open. Manly a support role but they have some social abilities such as being able to switch empires or go rouge (neutral) or they could later pick a carrer or prove their loyalty to their empire and advance in the civilian section of their empire.

You may want to do some editing, I think you mean Careers.

and how would one acquire these? What problems does it address?

This game is about the military, about a way being fought throughout the world.

The only career anyone would have in this world is military. Having people exploring the continent and researching things doesn't add anything to the game play at the core of the experience. In fact, I would say it will take away by bringing people out of the fight. The whole point of Planetside 2 is to create a competitive FPS with a persistant battlefield and a large strategic meta game.

I don't see how this idea fits this game? Planetside is an FPS people who try the game are doing so because they want to shoot people and take part in the battle. Who would want to wander around as a civilian with no empire and not even being a part of the game essentially. If your not fighting then what are you doing?

TR are the Military, NC are the Civilians, and VS are the Sciencetists.
Military have Ranks, Civilians are rabel, and Sciencetists are too brainy to be either.
