IMO, the graphics in planetside look AMAZING. Especially for an MMO. If you think they look bad, you have probably seen to many of the recent low detail screenshots. Its a good thing a few high detail and high res screenshots were released lately, because the low detail ones probably discourage people about the graphics. The best looking screens Ive seen yet are the Nvidia ones.

I think the graphics are fine...
Look at it this way, graphics are eye candy... great to look at for the first few hours but after that its the gameplay that keeps you coming back. As long as they are passable then i can live with them. i would rather have a basic looking game that was great to play than a great looking game that was boring... UT2003 = good example, lots of work on how it looks but in the end what was different from the rest? it didnt hook me..... Remember those old crappy looking pc games, the ones you couldnt put down and played until the early hours (heres for the UK peeps, remember the spectrum? some of its games were terrible to look at if they even had graphics, but god damm i spent most of my youth playing them) So yeah lets have it looking ok, but lets have it playing GGGGGGREEEEAAATTTT............. *so says Tony the Tiger* |

this is not unreal or doom .. it's an mmo and as such some graphic sacrifices have to be made to attract a larger customer base. solo games can survive on a much smaller sales number because there is very little maintence after release but mmos have to keep paying a ghastly ammount for bandwidth and a dedicated development team. imo, the visuals look astouding for the game it's trying to become.
