Firstly, I'm fairly positive this hasn't been discussed yet(but it could have)
Secondly, What I am purposing is "pooling of certifications" among vehicle members; let's say tank X, for that vehicle(let's say tank x). Thirdly, for clarification, and to hedge the trolls, sidegrades are considered as certifications below. Fourthly, we are assuming that vehicle sidegrades will increase the cost of the vehicle Now tank X is a two person, well rounded, vehicle. Obviously the owner of the vehicle is the driver. The second person is the gunner, who typically mans an 80mm main gun with a smaller 20mm Anti-infantry weapon(semantics). Tank X typically costs 1500 resources(random number) Let's say that Tank X has five certifications. Cost of all certifications is irrelevant. 1. The certification to spawn and drive Tank X; prerequisite for 2-5 2. (sidegrade) additional speed, trade off, turn slower(semantics) 3. (sidegrade) additional armor, trade off, decreased speed 4. (sidegrade) different armament, 2 groundpounders still has 20mm anti-infantry weapon, trade off, loses the 80mm main gun (loses AV gains AI) 5. (sidegrade) different armament, 155mm maingun, 12.7mm chaingun, tradeoff, loses 80mm main gun, loses 20mm weapon To use any of tank X's sidegrades cost an additional 200 resources per vehicle spawn. sidegrade 2 and 3 cannot be used at the same time, sidegrade 4 and 5 cannot be used at the same time. The owner/drive of tank x obviously has certification 1, but he also has certifications 2 and 3. The owner spawns his tank in with sidegrade 3. Tank x costed 1700 resources. Another member of the same faction enters the tank x, that member, now the gunner/passenger and he has certification 1, then sidegrades 4 and 5. He has the option to pay 200 more resources and use either one of his weapons sidegrades for tank x. I also propose that this "pooling of certifications" among vehicle members can only take place within faction occupied bases, maybe galaxies or sunderers if vehicle rearming is possible at them. Ultimately the owner of the vehicle will have to approve this change. Also the owner will have the ability to choose "privacy settings" for their vehicle. Giving the owner the ability to lock their vehicle, and to allow only squad, platoon, and outfitmates in the vehicle, as well as having the ability to pay for part of the expense. Example of the owner permissions screen: Example of what the owner sees at vehicle spawn terminals Just for clarification, example of the cert tree A screen displaying vehicle info, vehicle is in a location which allows passenger sidegrade, sidegrade window depicted at right. These images are very basic and simple renditions to help explain my point. Last edited by Elochai; 2012-06-13 at 05:01 AM. |

I think you should learn about how certifications and sidegrades work before suggesting something like this. There are no cert trees, certifications give you pool of possible loadout elements you can put in. Sidegrades are covered by vehicle loadout.
Player spawning i.e. the Liberator choses which guns and other elements he wants to put in, but after spawning no changes can be done to this vehicle. I like it, because as a pilot I defenitely do not want stats of my aircraft changing, when someone jumps in. Last edited by Fafnir; 2012-06-13 at 07:02 AM. |

Yeah the player that spawns the vehicle is going to choose the loadout at the time he spawns it. It might be cool if a player that jumps in the gunner seat could then have an option to re-pick the secondary gun since he's the one that has to fire it. Would probably be good to give the driver an option to not let gunners adjust the loadout as well. Also what to do about an options screen that pops up in those situations where you need to jump in the secondary gunner seat and immediately begin firing.
