I posted this not too long ago, they didn't take kindly to it for some reason..Hell, the reason is I posted Haruhi's name, which incidentially was a copy-paste of a tweet posted on their sidebar..What a disfunctional site..
With all the crap going on, I figured good news was welcome, again I figured wrong, just like when I felt putting all my money in AOL last year was a great idea (That was a joke?) You be the judge, but I figured at least sme of you would appreciate this, am I wrong again? Well, it's started...If you haven't heard, The president of SoE, Smedley banned this scumbag: Here's the tweet: Haruhi at http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.com was just banned. all 3 of his accounts. Goodbye you scumbag. Find a new hobby or get good at the game. I have had a long running feud with this scumbag, ever since he cost us time and money clearing him and his customers from our servers, still goes on but we have it under control... I also know for a fact that Haruhi is involved in writing code for phishing sites and other nasty stuff, ain't got the goods on him yet, but from what the FBI agent at the cyber crimes divison was telling me, it's coming... I realize this isn't an end all, but it's a start, many of us just wanted to know if the ball was rolling, this at least answers my questions and alleviates some of my concerns Here's a small sample of some of the past conversations I have had with Haruhi, enjoy: **************** PS2 is free to play, so if you wasted money it you done goofed. Me: Wrong again scumbag, there are people like me who work hard for their money, honest work. I would never even consider cheating you or anyone else, but you seem to think it's perfectly fine to cheat others and make money off of it...I am reporting you every day, I have filed a report with the internet crime complaint center, and I will fax another statement to the FBI today. You openly promote hacking, cheating, and stealing, and I will tell you this, they are very interested in what I have to say, but it's also openly displayed on your site. It was me by the way who file the lawsuit, it's probably going to be a class action, stay tuned, enjoy... **************** We do not promote stealing/theft, stop falsely accusing us or we will be the one who starts legal action against your slander. We provide game enhancements also know as cheats to our users. We do not break or violate any law. It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. I live for this stuff, there are dozens of messages, these are the only ones I can share because, well, the language isn't fit to be posted.... If any of you want to show support, go to PS2 facebook page and give them some props... Maybe this is the start of something wonderful, it's about time we FINALLY clean up online gaming... One can only hope Last edited by Solafide; 2012-12-04 at 01:21 PM. |

Being confrontational just makes matters worse, IMO. If you have an issue with someone, the worst thing you can do is openly attack or even comment about them as it hurts you in many ways.
"Speak softly, and carry a big stick" Heck, even Smed's comments surprised me. Better to acknowledge to us in simple terms and go after these people behind closed doors, than make a public fiasco that might escalate because it's so public and egos are involved. he is i think one of the Owners of a major hacking site which creates aimbots and other tools and sell them. I checked out their forum and they really take pride of making the best and nearly not detectable Cheats... Seems like people actually pay more for the cheats then other People pay for the games itself.
I really hope they get something done, and fast to bring these ******** down |

Plus, some of us got together and filed a lawsuit, hoping to see where it leads, plus the FBI is actively investigating this guy, seems he is linked to phishing sites and hacking programs that go farther than cheats... I suppose when some of you pay for and run servers and web sites, you'll understand that cheats cost us money which in my opinion is stealing..I never asked this guy on my server, I don't hack his website, so why is it OK for him to mess with me, and provide cheats which he profits from while I lose money..sound fair? Nope |

I think it wont help to post such things here.
What do you expect to achive by posting this here? All we learned till now is that there is a hacker you dont like and you wanna kick his balls. We cant help you. The only thin may happen: some guys can figure out the hacker you refering to and use his hacks. That wont be a good thing.... |

I'm worried with the Smed tweet... here is the major issue if you look at it again:
"Goodbye you scumbag. Find a new hobby or get good at the game." The implication from 'get good at the game' is that they are not able to do hardware bans. Meaning the guy could fire up a proxy, and play the game cleanly if he wanted to. I don't like that and would like to see some more permanent method of ban (at least requiring a different PC). |

I see what you are saying though. Why would he insinuate that the guy could get better if they banned him? Perhaps if the cheater went through all the steps to become clean (which could mean several things). We won't know though cause SOE isn't going to tell people what they are doing to mitigate the cheaters. Last edited by Crator; 2012-12-04 at 06:05 PM. |

SOE has nothing to worry about nor should they. The approach Smed's taking is something I really like. He's not taking shit from anyone and he does not want to be fucked with, or have his users fucked with. Thats the kind of guy you want watching the game and making sure its kept clean. Planetside 2 is a major investment on SOE's part and for it to be ruined by hackers/cheaters would make the entire effort, for the most part, a waste.
Props to Smed for being upfront and ridiculing them. No bullshit, thats what I like to see. It's also nice to see him passionate about his job. It's definitely reassuring. At the same time he could be simply putting on a show but regardless its nice. After all, transparency is something PS2 users have been clamoring for since the tech beta started :P Last edited by RykerStruvian; 2012-12-04 at 06:51 PM. |

This stuff would be better if it weren't out in the open so much. Especially the public attacks.
What worries me is that Smed's comments can be construed or used in a number of ways: A. This guy's hack obviously worked well enough that Smed publicly tweeted about it, possibly drumming up more business for said hacker. B. This guy can become vindictive and try to ruin this game not for profit, but out of spite, which would be much, much worse. There are many ways to skin a cat, some much smarter than others. Sony already let the cat out of the bag and being proactive shouldn't do more potential self-harm than good, at least not the way they are doing it now. We don't want tough talk (talk is cheap), we want a simple acknowledgement, vague plans and more importantly, results. Here's a good analogy: would you tell someone you're going to punch them in the face before you do it? No, you want them to feel as calm as possible, letting their guard down before you give him a black eye. Last edited by Beerbeer; 2012-12-04 at 07:14 PM. |

If you remember, Higby was showing off the ability to track even the smallest stats. Kills, shots fired, areas traversed etc. Even if someone hacks, I think the difference between PS1 and having to witness it and PS2 stat tracking will make this issue like night and day.

Stat tracking is great but it takes time/effort/money to keep up.
Lets hope they can deal with it, but all it takes is for them to start getting a little lazy. Global Agenda at release was amazing with how fast they were banning hackers and one of the pay to cheat sites took their cheat down and didn't even try to bring it back while another just gave up supporting it and said "detectable use at your own risk". 6 months later? Seems HiRez gave up caring about it and only investigated on case by case basis and even that was questionable. |
