A few questions for experienced Light Assault players
1. I'm currently playing as a Terran Light Assault, and was wondering what loadouts you guys consider to be the best for ADS-firing. I'm going for the least possible recoil and greatest possible accuracy, in general just a loadout that I can easily and quickly track and take down enemies at medium range. I don't care for hip fire accuracy, as when I hip fire, my enemy is close enough that it doesn't matter. 2. I joined an outfit, and basically am facing rejection for playing as light assault. My outfit members claim that light assaults have no place in the team, and their jetpacks are not useful because they simply get you killed for going in alone. Is this true? How do you help and benefit your team? 3. This is more of an overall game question, but how do you effectively take out your target with your carbine? I personally find it hard to track my enemy's erratic behavior in firefights, and tend to absolutely lose control of my weapon when my enemy starts shooting back at me. My enemies always seem to be much more accurate than me, and land many more shots on target. |

I'll answer 2 and give some tips for 3 in a sort of bundled answer.
Those people in your outfit are, quite frankly, 100% wrong. LAs are the kings/queens of surprises, ambushes and, especially, flanking. While they're assaulting head on with their HAs, medics and engies, you could be flanking around over rooftops and taking the enemy from the side or behind. Yes, you will most likely be on your own (unless you have other LAs with you), but that doesn't make you vulnerable. In fact, considering no one ever looks up, you probably have more survivability than those in the frontline assault. I find the jetpack to be one of the most useful things in the game. What I like to do is, during base assaults, take to the rooftops and pick off other LAs and drop podders who are up there to pick off your forces while they cap points etc. If your outfit is anything like most people I see in the game, you'll be the only one covering them from rooftop ambushes. Extremely valuable role. As for taking people out, surprise is you friend. However, in head-on fights, use your jetpack (if you can, obviously if you're in a building you'll be more limited). You'll be surprised how often you can get an advantage just by jetpacking over someone, even if you have to land before you can shoot them (even better if it's a MAX and you have C4). Otherwise, aim for the head if you can (this is especially true with TR weapons, which don't hit very hard). If they're really close and their shots are throwing your aim off, the best you can hope for is hipfire or using your mobility Overall, if you find yourself being bested a lot in head-on fights, try some more sneaky tactics. Don't be afraid to make a swift retreat, and then use your speed and mobility to flank or ambush the person as they try to chase you down. Hopefully some of that helps you. |

first and foremost your outfit is wrong about light assaults. they can play a major roll on the battle field, both as offensive and defensive . i play light assault more than any other class. i have around 10k infantry kills via light assault.
situational awareness is key when playing this class. you should always know where your enemy is coming from and find the best angles to attack from above. good long range builds are useful when you want to camp on a perch and suppress then enemy. t5 amc hv ammo, with adv front grip, compensator,x2 reflex, or 3.4 will drop them fast at range.very easy to control.add a silencer to stay off the enemy map. cgc light assault , would be the jag with adv laser and soft point, x1 reflex .hip fire build that allows you to fly and shoot anything 15ms away. the other would be "my choice" as 16 nighthawk shotgun with extended mag ,adrenaline pump, and flash bang..... this build will make people go crazy..... you move faster than normal, but you can turn on a dime, also it effects how fast you fly with your jet pack, so you can flash bang a room ,swoop in real quick, kill everyone in there that cant see then fly away.also very effective to flank people with. this is a very fast hip fire build. you need to be very close to your targets, 5 ms tops. last is the explosive/aoe build. there are gonna be times as a light assault you will see TONES of guys around a sundy or on a point, lots and lots of people everywhere.... and your gonna say i wish i had bunch of nades right now. this is what you do. get a trac 5 s, underbarrel nade launcher, thats 2 nades right there, then get nade bandolier, thats 3 more. also you want to have c4 on this build aswell. so thats 5 nades, 2 c4s and 1 light assault standing 20ft over a sundy with 50 enemies at it. your gonna win lol....... they are very effective, most just dont know how to use them in a effective manner . 2 man light assault team can clear a whole base of enemy sundys in a matter of mins. Also, consider when you start your attack. A lot of engagements in this game are won due to positioning and surprise. If you are taking longer range shots than your weapon is outfitted for (no scope, etc) then pass on it and maneuver towards a better position. You don't have to shoot at every enemy you see... a lot of players make this mistake. If it looks like a tough shot, and they don't know you are there, work for a better angle or distance. Remember, mobility is your specialty. |
