Assist vs Critical Assist

What is the difference between an Assist and a Critical Assist? Also, what's the difference between a Kill and a Critical Kill? Thanks.

Any damage done is considered an Assist. Critical Assist is when you did the most damage.

it must be a bit more complex. I occassionally do damage and dont get an assist even though the guy dies with in a 5 seconds or so.

I think that has to do with the same problem of inaccurate health reporting of who killed you. There is a time delay that is enough to mess with kill crediting. I've smacked Libs in the face with my MBT and not gotten credit when it died less than a second later.

But any time more than a second goes by, I get it. Or at least I haven't noticed not getting it.

I think it has to do with % damage done, without any kind of time associated.

I've been killed while sniping where I was shot to almost zero health, med-kitted, taken to almost no health, med-kitted and then several minutes later get killed by a tank shell and both of the other snipers showed in the assist bar even though i was at full health when I got killed.

It would seem a critical assist is when you do more than 50% of the damage that person took before they died. An assist is when you do any damage, as long as you are one of the top three damage doers. So... in my first case where 2 people took me all the to almost dead, had a 4th person been in the mix and taken me to 40% of my health, he wouldn't have gotten an assist because I had taken more damage from 3 others.

Regular Assist is good to go, Critical Assist needs a heal or repair. pls halp!

Back on topic, pretty much what everyone else has said. It does seem there's some server side lag going on with assist crediting but in general if you do over 50% of the damage to a person kill you'll get a critical kill assist, that's what I like to believe is intended. However I've gotten critical assists from a single round of my Magshot before so I honestly don't know what is up with them.
