It's seriously what it sounds like to me. I was expecting more piercing sound effects that you would expect from laser weapons, such as in PS1, not "bumbumbum" with an echo on it.

As a person who has a lot of experience sitting in echo-y rooms listening to guys smack cardboard boxes I would say no, no it does not sound like that.

I was a very poor child, all I had to entertain myself with was cardboard boxes, and my room had a nice echo to it, being nearly empty save for a blanket, and the guns really sound like it to me.

Though listening more closely, there is a bit of "squishy squish" along with the cardboard echo.

I think the VS guns need to be more laser and less soggy cardboard.

Apparently, one of my favorite sounds in the game... is soggy cardboard... Well, so be it, I love the pulsar sound, as is.
