You are trying to put it in the wrong place.

It's UserCP->Edit Options-> Avatar (near the bottom)

BTW, Geocities and angel fire do not support image linking like that. Try to find someone w/ webspace who can host it for you.

Wrong, all of my images that i use for avatars, signatures, etc. , i host with a free angelfire account.
