Question How well will Planetside 2 run on this laptop?

Hello, I've ordered a new laptop for gaming and want to know if it will run well.

Sager NP9370

17.1" Full HD (1920x1080) LED Matte Type Screen
SLI GTX 680m's
i7-3630QM (2.4-3.4GHz at Turbo)
12GB of RAM
750 GB HDD 7200 RPM
Windows 7

Please don't tell me to just get a desktop, as my parents are divorced, so that is not an option. I just want to know how well i will be able to run this. I might upgrade the CPU in the future, so any recomandations on that is appreciated. Thanks!

Pretty sure it will run fine. Your laptop is probably stronger than what most people use for a computer to play PS2.

As far as ordering such a computer right now? I think it was a fairly bad idea. You missed out on both the next gen Intel CPU coming in June and Nvidia's new 700M series. CPU will not be upgrade able to Intel next gen and chances are doing any kind of GPU one would not be economically smart. Regardless I think that beast of a laptop will keep you happy for long time to come.

About as good as it gets on a laptop

(Get two desktops for the price of that monster )

Hey, thanks for all the replies! Ive looked into this and found that my processor might bottleneck the performance. So i think as soon as it arrives i will put an i7 3840QM (2.8-3.8GHz). Do you think with this processor and SLI GTX 680m's i will be able to max this game? Even in giant battles and everything! Thanks for the replies, but please stop bringing up that a desktop is better. Its not my fucking fault my parents divorced. Thanks!

KFC this is why you need to do research on a machine before buying a laptop, especially when spending $2,500+. What you are suggesting to increase your performance is a bad idea considering that processor you are talking about is $500. If you are so concerned about performance you are best off returning this one you have coming in and getting a Haswell/780M SLI equipped once it is released.

TBH Rbstr's suggestion is a good one. You can build two bad ass computers with $3,000, that will also be upgrade able to future GPUs for years to come.

Alright if you want to be that way. Why are you even asking if this run the game on max settings? You just about have the most powerful laptop configuration out there possible currently. Coming from that its rather obvious you would play max settings, hence why I always get a kick out of people asking if their several thousand dollar machine will run XYZ.

I highly doubt the 780M will be much more expensive compared to a 680M as well. Mostly due to the 680M being retired and the 780M taking its pricing bracket.

In terms of the desktop. I think you are taking that way too personally and besides that its bound to be said. I have two desktops, one at home and at my apartment for school. I don't have any issues using two systems and it will take me 1 minute to pop in a new GPU if I want one, so I don't know why you think its hard.

Yes laptops are upgrade able potentially. Though if it is you will be paying out the ass for newer GPUs. Hence why people do not do this and instead if they want longevity from a system go for a desktop.

Indeed this your money, you can do what you want with it. However I wouldn't get mad at people offering viable alternatives for your situation.

Concerning you CPU bottleneck question. Chances are most mobile CPUs will be bottlenecking a 680M SLI setup anyway given how powerful it is from their lower clocks. Will 400MHz make that much of a difference? Potentially, but if anything that will likely come down to the game. If it was me and I had to do this I would just stick out with the one you have now and try picking up a higher end model used a few months now as prices should be down by then.

This is all i wanted. This quote right here. If you could have down that before, I wouldn't have had to rage. Thanks for this information
