If you actually looked at the title, it says

The List: 5 Hot Titles Not Named Battlefield or Call of Duty

And it consistently says shooters, not FPSes. I think that was a mistake on Hamma's part.

Also, don't be so butthurt. Tribes, PS2, Dead Island, hell, all of those listed have potential to be great games. just because you have some hardon for generic shooters doesn't mean everyone else shares that view.

Exactly, now all we need is every gaming/media website getting on the bad wagon and SOE not to fail. Oh and actual cash money spent of TV adverts not only in the U.S but over in the U.K and Europe would be nice.

I don't want SOE spending money on TV Adverts for PlanetSide 2. Honestly do you really think those pay off? I'd much rather more targeted advertising.

Tbh, If they did a Steam Release it would count as a ton of advertising. I can't recall how many games I've ended up buying because I saw them on the Steam Update news.

Not sure in the U.S but in the UK it works, WOW do it along with COD. The only reason i ever discovered planetside was that i happened to be at an iseries lan party SOE came and showed the game. It was so very badly promoted.

Magazine print adverts are a waste of cash so few people purchase them, the social media word of mouth and steam and the major players online.

How else would you recommend they spend the advertising money?

Would be nice to see them at the big LAN's throughout the world (the important ones have more than capable internet) handing out free trial keys and running demo's / competitions.

One of the most effective campaigns was a guerilla marketing campaign orchestrated by marcopolo who was the same dude behind this video

On a completely unrelated note, im looking forward to almost every major AAA game coming out this year. Its a good job I don't have a life or I might not be able to play all of this!

And then planetside 2 will come and darkness decends upon the lands. Then our lives will start, and this time there will be no BFRs!

I am currently waiting for, in order of excitedness:

1. PS2! (obviously)
2. Minecraft 1.8 (far too much fun building stuff with my outfit, and exploring)
3. Deus Ex 3 (went back and played through the original last year, loved it)
4. Dead Island (not sure about this one tbh, I got bored of Left 4 Dead so quickly)
5. SWTOR (KOTOR was great, and even if this just gives me a decent single player story for a month or two I'll be happy.)
