Why Hello Thar

Hello PSU. I have never played Planetside. I'd heard its name from time to time, but didn't really know what it was or anything. It seems interesting all together. With PS2 making a big splash I'm even more interested, particularly since that game's price seems right for me. I'm a bit concerned about system requirements especially with what they've said they want to do with weather, but I think that, even if I can't play it with my current computer I still want to get involved a bit (and maybe I'll be able to get a better comp by the time it comes out).

Mostly I'm very excited to see how PS2 goes. I see a lot of potential dangers with it. They might not be able to keep the servers stable enough, they might not be able to pull through on some of their promises, balance might be a large issue, and of course whether they'll make back enough of their investment to justify it. However, from what I've seen the developers seem to have the right attitudes, and the game looks like it will be good enough to attract the necessary players to at least get their money back.

Anyway, if it can be pulled off (and it looks like that's a yes) I think it's a great stride for SOE and gaming in general. Plus, it looks quite fun.

They said it would be able to run on computers around 4-6 years old if I remember correctly.
Even though I wouldn't dare playing on something that old. :P

Welcome to the forums.

PS: I agree with some of the worries. But I guess we will have to wait and see.
Server stability and cap seem to be a huge issue atm.

Indeed, the E3 demo worked quite well and was pretty stable, but they limited the area, and there were only generally 1/20th of the players they want to see on a given continent.

Anyway, thanks all for the warm welcome.
