I think this should of been held off a few days. Alot of us are upset atm because of the Base XP bug and the crashes. And i think alot of people are throwing the BASE XP bug into the latice thing, when its not part of it. The Latice/Matrix itself is VERY nice, As my outfits head Commander i LOVE it. I think it adds more options and a real Front to work around. And the work that i do get completed will stay completed because i can protect by using the latice to my advantage. I like how it is. There are stilly PLENTY of tacitcs to be employed and you never need to zerg. to take a place. Love it. Latice is uber. uber!!!

btw, i have a hypothosis about this latice hate/love. Those who like it like Teamwork and take pride in their in game accomplishments like it. Those who play for personal success and do not care about the greater good of the empire dislike it. And i think the people who dislike it are ALOT more vocal then the people who like it. Notice how above theres already tons of posts bitching about the latice, but the votes show theres more who want to keep it (well at least when this was written)

Your hypothesis generalizes too much. I am very much team oriented, but I have mixed feelings about forcing every base cap to involve five squads, which is about the only way to do it since the defenders don't have to defend everywhere now. (Unless you luck out like we did today, and are able to hack a base beside a neutral base. Then the enemy isn't expecting you (but they come very quickly. )

I've nothing against huge battles, but since the squads can't talk to eachother very effectively (unless they are all the same outfit and they use /o), it's not organized enough for me to get the massive campaign feel from it.

I do really like that they have made the ANT much more important (I watched on the map a base that went from 100% to 10% in around an hour while I was fighting at the base next to it).

I also really like that they made defense worth something, and forcing people to only cap certain bases makes standing around defending a lot easier for people to swallow, since you know that the enemy will come around the corner in a minute.

So overall, I'll have to play some more (after this patch that they are currently applying ) and continue to see how it goes.

I am 99% sure its not actually working the way it is supposed to, but I think its a good idea. It will prevent the musical bases thing to a certain extent, although I still rarely see people hanging around to defend when there is nothing obvious to defend against.

We do need something other than added exp to be the incentive for keeping a base under your empire's control. Everyone who buys the game at release and plays on a regular basis will be BR20 within a month or two, so exp will be meaningless. I am not convinced that the lattice/matrix system is going to do it by itself.

WTH is the matrix system? The question has allready been asked, but has not been aswered.

From looking at the comments about it I'm guessing that it prevents you from bypassing enemy lines to capture bases in the rear of the enemy possition(kind of like RISK), but this is just a guess. Could someone please explain in full?

*stands on soapbox* Get a new video card! The end is near, but you can't see it because of your crappy video card! Repent and buy a Radeon 9700 pro!
