There are supposed to be separate dev teams. There are supposed to be separate servers People may own a computer and a PS4, so a few might get introduced to the game by the PS4, and start playing computer... but then it might happen in reverse. I'm just totally neutral on the matter. |

Best of luck to SOE in making it workable for the console. PS FPS and console FPS are two different animals. Halo is great for console but is lackluster on PC. Things like reticle design and controls are really different between the two. For example, what button on a controller is going to let you turn off your rifle's flashlight? Which is going to let you fire select? The limited inputs and joystick nature of console controls change how FPS design is approached. So once again, best of luck to SOE in getting it transitioned over in a fun and effective format.

I think the question many gamers have is, will maintaining two versions of the game slow it down.
I don't think that console version will hinder the ability of the PC version - the interface shouldn't change for PCs since its already done. Valve created CS:GO at the same time as the console version so that was a different story. Same with L4D. I don't see SOE going back just to screw up the PC version. However as far as patches etc. its hard to say. They said that they will be separate, so the patches on the PC should just trickle down to the PS4 and not hold up the PC since they don't have to release on the same day. Although I guess we will see. From what I understand, this was the major issue with CS:Go dropping cross platform. After Sony dropping my Linux partion on PS3 and its poor support for the PS Move, I could care less if the PS4 does well or not. I wont buy another Sony console (and likely not an Xbox One either). |

I feel great about it. It will provide more exposure to the game to a greater audience. Success of Planetside as a whole will support SOE. Our PC version of the game may pick up a few players as a result. We also may see some benefits from the lessons they learn from the console version.
If anyone is wondering how SOE will handle two versions of the same game then you only need to look as far as DCUO. It has been on PS3 and PC from the start. DCUO may not be a blockbuster success, but they have kept both versions of the game patched and running. So, in my mind they have already done this successfully before. |
