XP autolocks FPS?


my friend says that xp autolocks fps at 60... and in order to fix it you need to d/l prgrams...is this true? if it is, please tell me how to fix it!

I don't believe that's true. Any fps lock would most likely have to be specifically programmed into each game.

There was a problem with Refresh rates locking on XP (not sure if SP1 fixed it)

There where a few good programs that would allow you to manually set your refresh so when you started a game it would force the refresh rate (because of the "bug" in XP would revert back to 60 on the refresh)

Refresh rates were the problem, and they locked at 60Hz. SP1 made the situation better, but it still isn't great. I personally use RivaTuner (a nVidia overclocking tool), to keep my refresh rates unlocked at exactly what I want.

Just to add, the ATI control panel has a function that lets you override the 60hz.

have a look for refreshforce, run it once, and thats that, you dont have to have it start everytime. Fixed hte refresh rate for me
