Mass Effect 3 is a great game. The best in the series imo. The only thing that sucked was the ending. But most people don't look past the ending and think the entire game sucks.

But I am very curious what the extended cut DLC brings.

The ending is what the game leaves you with. if the ending is shit, the game left you with shit as a memory of it.

Not me. Yes the ending sucked and I was really dissapointed by that. But the rest of the game was great and I just do as if the ending never happened. I hope the EC makes it better.

the entire mass effect franchise is shit. 98 percent of bioware's writers are qualitatively shit and uninteresting in their work. their game design as one giant hallway is shit. their pandering to a fanbase who expect very specific and mostly unreasonable things is also shit. ea is literally shit, as voted by said fanbase. their use of dlc content is shit. ea's ability to ruin whatever it touches... is shit.

It has the same writers on it. I'm not expecting much.

Re: ME3 "Extended Cut"

ME3 when I first played and in hindsight now had a fine ending....The whole game was the ending.
The rest of the game being pretty freaking awesome overshadows my issues with the ending.
That it ended in a manner that makes any sequel attempt have to go in a radically different direction is also nice. Real true ends are becoming so rare these days *cough*Halo*cough*.

The worst thing that can happen is that they've rewritten it to be substantially different in concept. The most important reason is that we're treading on some thin ground with artistic integrity in the day and age of DLC and F2P.
I worry that mainstream story driven games are going to feel the need to cop out on the end in order to have the money flow.

Re: ME3 "Extended Cut"

ME1 was hampered by a somewhat clunky combat system, the mako's physics and a bogged down inventory system. ME2 for the most part improved on the formula, except for having a tedious resource scanning system, less of an RPG as the item system was too limited. The story was more engaging, it was far more focused on character development/stories and the subsequent consequences of the choices you make. It also offered some great DLC.
ME3 offered a great mix of ME1 and ME2 gameplay mechanics and was all-round better, except for the side quest system being poorly done, boring characters and of course the ending not making sense or really offering closure. As far as I am concerned ME2 was the best in the series, but both ME1 and ME3 were great games, if you disregard the ending in ME3.

If they would've put this out sooner I might have been interested. They went and sat on it for long enough that I just uninstalled and stopped caring. Planetside and other games have my interest now.

I personally liked the extended cut. It gave me enough closure to my synthesis ending I also thought it was hilarious that the extra ending they put in had everyone dying and having another cycle start lol

Thanks for the spoiler >_>

I didn't try that ending yet.

Anyway, Extended Cut doesn't bring much to the plot, but at least fills some minor plot holes, like why the Normandy is shown flying away and stuff.

In the end, it's still "choose solution A, B or C. You can now have D too" though, and it still doesn't fit the plot of ME1 and 2, where Reapers were obviously here just to kill everyone, and not for some other fantasist reason coming out of nowhere and explained at the end of ME3.

i'm a big fan of mass effect. 1 was such an awesome game. one of my all time favs. 2 had an awesome setup into 3. i have a little hope that it'll be good just cause the dlc has been pretty damn great for this series. so hoping the ending will tie up the loose ends. 3 was a good game til the last 10 min or so imo. even though they made some mistakes and i hate ea for the most part the series imo is still great. i'll save final judgement for when i see what they leave us with. i do believe the outcry for the horrible ending was justified though so hopefully bioware learns from this mistake.
