Vehicle Deconstruct Timer


Are there any plans to change or increase the vehicle deconstruct timer? One thing that PS2 imo does badly is to encourage players to fight between bases with armour and then to assault bases with infantry.
One of the downsides to getting out of your vehicle is that you have to keep going back to the tank every 5 minutes to refresh the timer.

This definitely discourages tank and armour crews from transitioning from armour to infantry. This was what I loved in PS1. The fights had phases.. armour then the siege/assault of a base. Park up the vehicle and then get back to it asap when the base was won/captured and roll on.

If we are fighting on Esamir and don't have tech then I get really attached to the tank I'm in. If I lose the tank I have to go back to the wg or may not have resources to pull another (resources are rarely an issue)

If I lose a tank in a fight - cool. But if I lose a tank because I'm in the middle of an exciting 5 minute gun battle and I cant get back to it then it's frustrating. I have to take 5-10 minutes out of the game to go back the wg and solo drive across a continent.

Please devs consider increasing the vehicle despawn timer or even removing it completely - despawn on inactivity or something like that. I bet it won't decrease the number of objects in the world very much since any unattended vehicles tend to get destroyed very quickly.

Perhaps give infiltrators the added ability to deconstruct them? Or, daresay, to hack them and drive them off \o/ I heard this was a feature of Battlefield 3 yeah *8)


Note: Love the stuff you've previewed with the shields around the bases - cant wait for this to arrive!!!! Proper bases which need to be taken by infantry and not by spawn camping in vehicles! \o/

We only need automatic deconstruction in the warp gates - to stop griefers.

Its pointless everywhere else.

they just need to put it back in with a 20 second timer(example). The big problem I had with it before was pilots like daddy(farmer no.1) de-constructing just before dying; no vehicle or kill xp! At least with it out of the game right now the vehicle xp can not be taken away.

wrong thread!

this is about the timer that autodeconstructs your vehicle when you leave it.

not about the button to deconstruct your vehicle on purpose

and i agree! this has to go! we paid ressources for the vehicles, and sometimes we have to leave them for some minutes. it´s ok if they are destroyed by some enemy, but just deconstructing because nobody is sitting inside sucks.
as always, take a look at ps1...
deconstruct a vehicle, if the owner draws another vehicle or leaves the game.

Seriously though, that timer is bloody annoying. If resources were given back and timers were reset upon your vehicle timing out then it wouldn't be as bad.

Fortunately for me, the timer on my vehicle is typically 20 minutes.

I just don't see at all why the deconstruction timers exist.

It's not like you can spawn more than 6 cheapest vehicles (except for Flash), so I doubt it's easy to "spam" vehicles (for the sake of crashing a server or whatever).

The only reason I can think of is to keep the number of vehicles down (a la PS1 CY), aiding in the performance issue. If you let it sit there for 5 min, you must not want it!

With looking at the Esamir changes 5 minutes can be nothing when trying to take one of those outposts. Iv had sunderers auto despawn before taking bases if it isn't needed for an AMS.
