EDIT: Spelling mistake in the title, i'm a cool bean.
Given how little time (comparatively) it took SOE to get Planetside 2 to go from Alpha, to Beta, to launch ready. We've seen a rather substantial lack of content over the past few months. Almost 5 months from the launch of the game, and what has actually been added? A few new weapons, some tunnels. ... They've been fixing bugs and balancing things, and God knows it was needed. However, thats not 'content' and shouldn't be treated as such. Fixing bugs and balancing things, cleaning up stuff that really should have been squared away before launch, slapping a 'content' sticker on it and suggesting we should be grateful for it is all rather depressing. The game wasn't exactly feature complete when it launched, we're missing rather a lot of vehicles, weapons, meaningful reasons to fight, continents... the list goes on. I think we all understand that SoE aren't supermen, but the 6 month road map actually left my jaw hanging open. I was expecting to see new continents, new vehicles, maybe even sea combat, player made bases... at least one of these. Not shit like 'Oh yeah, if you're lucky, maybe you can move you Prowler from Indar to Esamir without having to spawn a new one' or 'Maybe, if you're lucky, we might make the MAX worth spawning' These are 6 month goals? What? I don't know if all the developer power has moved away from Planetside to work on Everquest 3 or whatever, but at least get some of the major issues fixed before you pull the plug on the game. All the promises that were made before launch about player made bases, more vehicles, sea combat etc... When exactly are we expecting to see this? If the road map is anything to go by, 2015? You're already having to merge servers less than 5 months after your game came out, maybe if you actually paid it some attention and fixed some of the MASSIVE fucking issues plaguing your game more people would be playing it. Cheating is pretty obvious, and after over 50+ people report the guy, nothing happens, (oh yeah, we do remember when you said you'd have a handle on that. Good job, glad that worked out) a proper meta-game, a resource system that actually means something. This just seems to be classic SOE. You make a good game, give it just enough life to crawl, with enough promise and hope to make it something great and/or tag people along. Then slowly let it die, sucking all the money you can out of it. I'd say i'm surprised, but I'm not. SOE are getting rather efficient at letting good games die. |

I'm not sure what you where expecting but I'm not exactly under the impression that these guys are sitting idle over there. Tbh, if they would release even half of their road map it would be more than I was foreseeing.
Fixing bugs, balances, optimizations and generally polishing up the game I consider as important as releasing flashy new toys that will make you pay even more SC. And on both of these sides they're progressing at reasonable speed imo. |

I'll admit, PS2 is a bit slower implementing features than I'd like but I'm willing to wait for the good stuff to get developed, fleshed out and unfucked.
All in all, I think this is about where I personally expected this game to be with the exception of the mission system and the mobile app. I mean, fuck, this IS a free to play game. |

They are working hard and the game is improving. That's pretty much the story, or at least as I see it.
Maybe it could improve faster; nothing is ever perfect, no matter how much work we put into it there will be flaws, inadequacies, and complaints. Personally I find a few key content additions that have come so far to add a lot more to the game than face-value. SMG's meant a lot for the game, and so did AV MANA turrets. I imagine (hope) the ES AV launchers will be the same amount of 'good'. Things like metagame and continent additions require more planning and more code-work, which inevitably means more bugs and more problems to be squashed before it can be let out of the gates. What LOT of vehicles are we missing? Have you seen the number of weapons we have? What LOT of weapons are missing? 2 New continents are coming this year one of them in the next couple of months. What metric are you using to gauge our progress? What other game has been as active as the PS2 team? Compare us to a even larger company with many more devs.. Bf3 for instance. How many updates do you think they've put out in a year? 2 maybe. We've updated every 2-3 weeks. I'm not really sure what you are comparing us to. At the end of it all..... its 9:12 pm on a Wednesday and guess what, I'm still at work with many others. Stay thirsty my friend |

Only 2 ? I was hoping at some point we'd kick into high gear on continent design and get one every other month until we have at least 10! |

Just look at WarGaming Online's soon-to-be newest addition to their game family: World of Warships. "It takes about 3-4 months to design a single ship."-WarGaming Online. 3-4 MONTHS for a single SHIP. Now, granted they have a samller dev team than SOE, but the point is, it takes time to make these things. IMHO, SOE has been working on the new continents prior to the Tech Test. Same with their new vehicles, weapons, etc. Please don't be so narrow minded when it comes to developement time. |

WoW, GW2, EVE etc, come to mind as games you should compare PS2 to, in terms of updating. I certainly don't think PS2 is doing that bad, but I'm sure we all just want more and more stuff in the game as fast as possible because we love it so much |

do we have a lot of weapons? i dont think so! tbh what do we have?
per faction: 1 pistol 1 carbine 1 smg 1 lmg 1 sniper 1 assault rifle that looks like whatever else 1 shotgun that looks like the battle rifle 1 battlerifle that looks like the lmg 1 special heavy weapon 2 missile launchers? the rest are just copies.. and the different stuff we have at least for TR each look like some resized copy as well.. so basically we have 1 pistol, 1 rifle, 2 launchers!? (not even sure on that, dont play heavy often), 1 special weapon and tbh battle rifle, shotgun and sniper look all the same too.. in bf or cod every weapon does look and feel very different.. while i if you put one of the shitloads of carbines in a developers hand i am sure he cant say if it is a trac5s, amc or a normal one.. i regret a lot having spend sc on weapons hoping that at least the attachmenets would make them different.. but they dont really.. the weapons in this game really disappoint me a lot.. just because the factions have their designs and weapons have to fit in the style a small bit doesnt mean we need exactly the same look for everything (and feel, they also all feel the same) and sorry, didnt read the rest of the thread, just this post annoyed the hell out of me so i had to reply.. Sometimes I wonder about people, it's like they look at the weapon appearance and they can't work out how a weapon could feel or act different if it doesn't look different. Because they do. It might seem insignificant to you, but some of us do notice that there's a difference between weapons and pick accordingly. |

That is true, and I do hope they tweak the appearance of stuff more as time goes on as well. It just annoys me when people say that all the weapons are the same when clearly that's the opposite of my experience, unless I totally imagined all the time i've spent trialing weapons, looking up stats and rejecting weapons to find weapons to fit my playstyle and what I want to do with them.

You should know people currently aren't that up to date, when it comes to the new vehicles which are coming soon. This is not because I want to be the perfect fanboy, but I want to say, you guys are doing pretty good currently. Thing is, like in the most F2P, people have no patience. Don't take it emotional, you guys are doing a great job. To OP: First priority is currently the stabilization and playability of the game. Since the release of the game was a good step (there are goals given by SOE which have to be fulfilled), please remember that this game is the second part of the very first and real MMOFPS. Basically non-instanced. While they're increasing the playability of the game, they're on a parallel way also including new content. T-Ray has posted already stuff which probably will come. They cannot show everything, since the surprise / new feel / entertainment factor will be done too early. As T-Ray has told, you're missing a lot of vehicles, but don't name which kind of vehicles you're currently missing. To be constructive, I'll recommend you to list what you're looking for. Same stuff for weapons. But while you're going to list them, remember at every time the balancing. On the same way you're currently contradicting yourself, by yelling that you want more content, you also say "I don't know if all developer power has moved away from Planetside to work on Everquest 3 or whatever, but at least get some of the major issues fixed before you pull the plug on the game". They're working on it currently. And like every (real) MMO, there is a constant evolution and development required. And by the way, there were NEVER exactly promises about player-made bases or sea combat. That's just something you want to put in here, to generate some kind of pressure. And vehicles are coming. And about the cheaters. Cheaters are in every game. There is no universal way to sort that out. It's simply not possible. Tell me one MMO bound to a learning curve, which is cheat free - and I'll be fine to award you an GTX 680 from my wholesale distributor Devil AG. To be honest, chill out. Anyways, looking at the big mass of players coming together at the same spot / activity area, cheaters basically are getting owned, since there is no godmode. Those no-clippers which are in objects, shooting out from them are one thing and quite obvious. Just report them and they'll get owned soon or later. Same for aimbotters. And at least, people cheating on a smart way, like I've already said, will go under in the masses. That's why I like Planetside 2. Also, you've everytime to remember, that you've to track a cheat on his way of how it works. It's not done simply by seeing a YouTube-Video. You've to understand the way it works and to find out how it gets in touch with the game. That for, a lot of players which are actually cheating and investing money into the game, are getting tracked. That's a pretty normal way, which also happens in other MMOs. Give them a chance. Give the game a chance. Just lean back and make the best out of it. Be constructive, share ideas (describe them well in a realizable way) and wait. T-Ray and Co. are often taking a look into the forums and reddit. Most other companies don't even do that. They've a strict way to develop a game and fundamentally don't pay attention to what the customerbase asks for. So, chill out, seriously. |
