There can never be enough TR/VS deaths.
And the quality.... it is... AWESOME

Really nice, good to see it in crisp quality
One thing I thought was a shame though was people playing 'im shot' animations when blasted point range by a tank. Would be cool if they went flying or blew apart. I mean should you be able to be revived from a tank shell to the face? |

Pre-done death animations just seems too dated for this kind of game. Last edited by Jonny; 2012-03-29 at 09:55 AM. Reason: spelling innit |

However, I think one of the problems with ragdolls in PS kinda game is the resources it takes. If characters are revivable, everyone needs to see the ragdoll in the same place. This pretty much means that instead of having client do the ragdoll calculations, the server pretty much has to keep on track with it. And I dont think they can afford any extra strain on the server with the scale they are going for to be honest. If characters werent resurrectable, it wouldnt matter that the client calculated the ragdoll. Basically, the thing here is that two different clients can and will see the corpse in different places. In case of APB it makes no difference cos the body will stay dead, but in PS you will need to actually know where the server thinks the body is so you can ress them. I'm no tech sawwy or coder, but I'm pretty sure ensuring that the corpse is in the same place for everyone with ragdolls strains the server. Also yeah, like someone said, I think the only non-NC first person view we've seen was the TR standing on top of a mountain ledge with a repeater, looking down to a base. While I'm NC to the bone, but I'd still like to see how fe. Pulsar and Cycler look from the users PoV. I think Higby is a really good person to have do these PR thingies. That man could probably sell me a bag of dog shit and make me think I actually want it Hvar is a familiar basename, but is Zurvan in Planetside?

I actually agree with this 100%. If you get blown up you shouldn't be able to get revived imo. There were instances like this in PS1. Or, perhaps, to make the medic role more dynamic, make it so they have to spec into a special device that allows them to reconstruct the blown up parts of the person to be able to revive them. This process, of course, takes longer then a normal revive.

Cheers for the Heads up OP.
Nice to see a good cross section of people are looking forward to it and not utterly slamming it (as GT users often want to do). Fingers Crossed we see a good amount of people getting excited for it. |
