soft and hv ammo

myself and a few outfit mates were conducting weapons test with the different types of ammo last night and found that soft and high v ammo only work on the ns 11.

the test was simple, we set a waypoint to determine range, had the target stand on the waypoint and fired 1 shot center mass.
test ranges were 10 30 and 60ms.
weapons tested,trac 5,msw,tmg,ns 11
we found that at all ranges, no matter what ammo all the tr weapons did the same damage, excpet the trac 5 which had lower damage at 60ms do to the range.
the only thing that did effect damage on all tr weapons was the silencer.

is this a bug with tr weapons or the soft and hv ammo?
has anyone on nc or vs tested this at all?

I think a serious amount of weapon upgrades either have no effect at all, or one so small it's not noticeable.

Edit: that being said the difference between min and max damage is only about 30. High velocity would only increase the range at which min damage occurs, I think.

Either way: the player site with all the documentation is coming. At least I hope it is.

10m and 30m 60m are not the best ranges to test over. but i am surprised that 60m did not show much difference for soft-point.

High Velocity Ammunition - HVA increases bullet velocity by an unknown value as well as increasing vertical recoil by 6%-12% and extends the range a weapon reaches it's minimum damage value at by 10m.

Soft Point Ammunition - SPA decreases bullet velocity by an unknown value, as well as extending the initial damage dropoff range for the weapon to 15m instead of 10m and reducing minimum damage by 1 tier (167 → 143, 143 → 125, 125 → 112, 112 → 100, 100 → 91).

carbine stats;
TRAC-5 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m
T5 AMC 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m
TRAC-5 Burst 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m
TRAC-5 S 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m
LC2 Lynx 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m
LC3 Jaguar 143 @ 10m 112 @ 65m

ns 11 . this weapon took 5 bars off the shields at all ranges with standard ammo. but with soft point within in 20ms it took off 6 bars of shields. using hv ammo at ranges of 40+ ms it took off 6 bars of shields.

So your saying HV is the better ammo, since it still did the same dmg at 40meters vs 20, with damage degredation it should do 7 or more bars at 20meters ??

With weapon attachments there is a small reduction of recoil with compensator or foregrip. But as SeraphC said, very little difference.

I guess its to go with the whole 5min player vs 5year on even footing

This is what should happen with the TRAC-5

Looking at that Graph Mutant, I would say Either use HV ammo or non at all. The benefit of Soft point is hardly worth it, and I would think in a real world scenario would make bugger all difference.

SO basically they work as intended?

Soft point increases max damage falloff at very close range, high velocity reduces damage falloff at long range.

Granted the differences don't seem like much (5-10m either way), but they will always give you an edge against an opponent with standard ammo.

Whether they are worth the investment is another debate.

SFA and HVA do nothing in a practical application.

What would be interesting to see, is at what distance that most kills happen at.

A lot of kills happens at melee range, but how many happens at 10m compared to 20m?

Depends on the situations you put yourself in to be honest. If you fight a lot of Towers then 10 meters sounds about right, but if you mostly run around in bases, then we're talking 20 meters +

Soft point ammo is just bad stuff. CQC weapons are highly effective out to about 30 meters and reasonably effective out to 50 meters.

You are giving your weapon a huge nerf over normal engagement ranges when you use soft point.

What do you consider a normal engagement range? Because 20m is pretty far in a lot of indoor battles. SPA is fine for indoors only; everybody should have a different loadout for when they go outdoors.

Look at the graph. 2 Extra damage per shot is not going to reduce your TTK. You'll still need the same amount of shots.

If that graph is correct then neither are worth the upgrade cost at all. Just don't get them, spend certs elsewhere.

At 50+ m I find the added bullet velocity from HV is noticeable and feel its worth more than the added damage, and if you can control the recoil there is no down side, (just a small opportunity cost if SP is an option of <3 damage in the 10-21m range)

The graph is correct based on the working as intended rules, but it does seem from OP that a lot of weapons may not be working as intended.
Shield and heath have 10 bars each with a total of 500 hit points each, each bar is therefore 50 hp, most guns have < 50 damage difference between ammo types. (is there some damage modifier for body shots?)
I think 3 shot data may help pick out some differences.
