It was Varek's day off and she layed lazily on her couch, watching late late night with conan o'brien's clone. The phone rang just as she was dozing off and it startled her awake, making her spill her big bowl of popcorn.
"Gah!! I'm awake!!!" Varek said while picking up the phone. "Hey there, just thought I'd inform you of your new night-mission." the voice said on the other end of the line. "God damnit Sarge, its my day off." "Yeah so what, suck it up, you can have all the popcorn you want on the ride there." "Meh, fine what is it, Recon?" "No, assasination." "What? Who?" "A high ranking general, 3 star." "Nice, whats the insertion method?" "Lodestar-Wraith." "Ah cool, is Banks my pilot?" "Yeah." "Great, when do we leave?" "30 minutes." "Gee great intel.... remind me to thank recon." "This wasn't planned on intel, it was being planned for several months ago." "Huh, you mean we are going into an enemy base?" "Yeah what did you think?" "I dunno, a convoy ambush or something." "Nah, thats why we need a stealther." "Ok, I'll meet you at the hangar in 15 minutes." "Roger that Varek, hurry up, and don't get too ancy." "They don't call me ghost-face for nothing..." --------------- I'm tired now, going to bed, hope someone actually reads it unlike my first fanfic. Well have fun and I'll post the next part tomorrow, errr today rather, its 3 a.m.

Ok I thought about this when I was trying to get to sleep and it needed to be addressed. Why assasinate someone when they just respawn?... I have an answer but its not all perfect so just go with it. Whenever someone dies and they respawn then lose all their memories, like a severe case of amnesia. They can still walk and stuff and have motor skills but they just forget their favorite food and stuff like that. When a grunt dies it would take probably 2 weeks to regain all his memories, a spec ops soldier, 1 and 1/2 months at the most. However when a high ranking general dies he looses all knowledge of sensitive informations and the like so it can take upwards of 3 years for them to rehabilitate. Also this fanfic has a really shitty name I am bad at titles. Ok enough of this and its time to begin the second part of Knifecapade.... !.... yeah I know... lame....
----------------------------------------- Varek started strapping herself into the seat in the Lodestar dropship. The seat was very cold, having no cushion. The hipocritical generals tried to cut down costs by removing such luxuries as cloth seats, while they sat in their offices smoking solsarian cigars and sitting in plush leather chairs. Just once I'd like to see one of those generals try to sqeeze into an infiltration suit, Varek thought with a snicker. "Hey, you all ready to go back there!" yelled Gromph, the cargo specialist of the Lodestar. The Lodestar had 1 pilot position, and 3 spots in the cargo hold for passengers. One spot was occupied by Gromph and the other by Varek. "Yeah, I'm in, lets hit it" "Alright the wraith is secure, Let's go banks, to the Hossin warpgate" "Roger that, hold on for afterburner ignition" Just as Banks finished his transmission the dropship jerked wildly, accelerating at 50mph/second and rocketing off into the cool night air. "Ok Banks, hold it here." Gromph said into his mic. The Lodestar slowed to a hover and Gromph gave the thumbs up to Varek. "Good luck!" Varek faintly heard behind her as she plumetted to the ground. She initiated her inertial dampeners when she neared 50 feet above the ground. A green/blue flourescent gas erupted from 2 hoses running down each of her legs. The gas formed a comfortable cushion and she landed lightly, then ran for the nearest cover, activating her stealth suit all in one fluid motion. She stood behind a tree as she watched the wraith fall out of the dropship. The cargo door opened and the buggy slid out on a rolling platform that had wheels. These wheels ran on rails on the floor of the dropship and on the door. Gromph pressed a button on his control console and the wraith and platform rolled back out of the Lodestar. As soon as it came out of the cargo hold Varek knew it was in trouble. It was falling right for a tree. Normally the inertial dampeners on the platform would have automatically activated at 100 feet and would slow the platform enough for a rough, but safe landing. However because the tree was there the platform would not have enough time to slow and it would slam into the tree branches heavily, perhaps destroying it completely. As it fell onto the tree Varek heard a loud crashing, the sound of tree branches, or maybe axles failing and buckling. It flipped backwards and landed very hard onto a patch of grass behind the tree. Varek went to investigate immediately. It wasn't too bad, not as bad as she thought. Varek ran over to the wraith and pulled off a nano dispensor from the back of the wraith. She held down the trigger as a metallic liquid spurted out onto one of the tire axles. It didn't look solid, but it was, and would hold for centuries. She then put the dispensor back and mounted the vehicle. Flipping a switch made the tire clamps disengage. Then Varek put her right thumb onto the ignition. The ignition was a thumbprint scanning device that would only accept pre-installed prints. On her glove on her right hand was a special fabric over the thumb. It was very unique, it would mimic the shape of even the smallest of contours, including fingerprints. Varek pressed her thumb onto the pad and it the 4-wheeler started up, puttering softly. She twisted the throttle wildly and the wraith hummed off into the night, dodging in and out of trees, and jumping small ponds with ease. "Hey is the wraith ok, I saw the nasty landing" came gromphs communication. "Yeah its fine, get that cow out of here before it alerts enemy radar" "We already left, good luck, Lodestar 9 out." "Thanks for your concern guys" she whispered as she rocketed off into the night, engaging the vehicles, stealth function, it turned into a blur and couldn't be seen in just a few seconds. She was headed for Voltan, a Terran Republic controlled base. The base was on a solitary island in the middle of a mostly enemy controlled continent. It would be hard getting to the island let alone onto it. Fun She thought....

Once again the fanfic with the shitty name continues........
Varek stopped behind a tree and turned off the motor. She brought out a map on a pda, that had flourescent glowing features. Also the map had a cursor, marking her position that was constantly linked to a gps system. She saw that she was merely 20 minutes away from the hardest task, besides the actual assasination, before her. It was a kilometer long bridge, with over 50 guards(nearly all with darklight implants), automated turrets, personnel mines, trip wires, everything. It was impassable to anyone, nearly anyone anyways. She restarted the wraith and drove off, keeping 10 meters left of the rough dirt road. Varek had passed several vehicles, mostly Sunderers, carrying equipment and grunt personnel. The Republic was obviously planning a large scale raid. Suddenly it hit her... "Ah now I know why." She realized that her mark was obviously either in charge, or one of the major troop commanders of the upcoming raid. But how could the Conglomerate know? Those intel people are really getting good, must have intercepted radio signals."But, what about encryption..." she said aloud. "has to be a mole..." Despite her recent doubts Varek continued on her mission. Confident that whatever knowledge she could obtain about the snitch, it would be on her present course. She soared over one last hill and spotted the floodlights on the bridge outposts, roughly 100 meters away. She started parking the wraith behind a copse of willows then changed her mind. "Ah I have a little suprise for you republic scum... get ready." Varek revved up the engine and started back the way she came, also angling towards the road and deactivating her stealth function...... An once again I've inspired myself... yes how lame. Off to play PS, I'll write more tomorrow if anyone cares :P.

And so we begin the 4th chapter to Knifecapade!......!...... aww man.... nobody here again.... *sigh* I'll just read to myself.
Varek gunned the wraith to full throttle speeding towards the bride, and uncloaked. Soldiers started yelling for missiles and the automated turrets erupted, throwing out rounds at 20/second. Just as she crossed the first support column on the bridge Varek lept off the wraith, cloaked, and went over the edge, landing in shallow water. The wraith continued on for 10 more seconds before it was shredded by turret rounds and was blasted by 5 striker missiles simotaneously, taking out an outpost in the process with 6 guards. Varek had placed charges under the rear fender, making the explosion exponentially larger. Quickly Varek gathered herself together and clambered under the bridge, getting swashed back by the strong river tide. She would have been pushed out of her secret alcove if not for a big support column, she stood upon the concrete anchor and checked her weapons. All was in order, she had 3 jammer grenades, an AMP pistol and 4 clips of ammo, also a rek. She listened as a soldier started talking to a wounded soldier trying to quiet his screams of pain. "AHHH! Get me a medic!" "Holy shit, get a medic here now!" said the soldier as his comrade died in his arms. The casualty had been burned severely on his left side, and was missing limbs, bleeding badly. "Where is that medic! We need him revived!" Just then a medic came and revived him, giving him a shot and closing up the wound with nanonites. The medic called in for a medivac, and put the now revived man on a stretcher. "Ah god it hurts!! I can't feel my arm!" "Its gone son, just hang tight medivac will be here and you will be put in a regeneration tube back at the base." "What, what are you talking about, where am I?" "Ah great, this one can't even remember the war...." The modified medivac harraser arrived, in its normal gunner position was a stretcher, that extended into the cut away trunk. The medic placed the man on the stretcher and secured him in place. Then the harraser took off back towards the base. Varek by this time had already gotten to the top of the bridge and on top of one of the outposts. She watched as the soldier took up their normal positions, not caring for poker after this ordeal, they still had an adrenaline rush and were watching carefully for signs of further attack. Varek would have to wait awhile before continuing, so she layed down and stared at the stars, trying to fall asleep. She set a timer for 30 minutes, at that time a very small speaker, implanted into her ear would ring and wake her. Ah very productive start she thought. Varek had single-handedly destroyed 2 turrets, 5 men, and detonated atleast 3 mines(which also added to the blast). Those mines would be the tough part. They had a special scanning device that had a range of 10 meters. They scanned special tags encoded with a magnetic signal that were in the Terran Republic uniforms. She would have to steal one of the tags before proceeding. Varek then drifted off into unconciousness, getting some much needed rest......

Ok I haven't posted in this thread in ages so the story may be a little flawed at this point, I'm not gonna reread this whole thing so I might get a few points wrong. I would like to thank all those who have given me praise, also would like to thank the guy who PMed me I forgot his name, but excellent suggestion and I think I'll try and implement it right here... Anyways here it goes.
------------------------------------------------ Varek awoke from her rest a half hour later, rested and confident that she could continue along the remaining 700 meters of the bridge unseen. It was still dark out but not for long, she could see a faint glimmer on the clouds coming over the Eastern horizon. Varek decided to find a lone soldier to steal the ID tag from. She scanned the bridge finding several outposts all with 6 or more men, most of them sitting on chairs not guarding much of anything. Then she saw him, a lone troop coming her way on the South side of the bridge. He was a rookie she knew only carrying a punisher assault rifle. Some elite troops could make wonderful use of the punisher taking into use its devastating grenade launching abilities then pumping rounds into the weakened survivors. Yet this young boy didn't have a grenade launcher equiped, this was standard precedure for rookies because it was feared that they would use the grenades incorrectly taking out many friendlys instead of enemies. Also the punisher was perfect for rookies because it wouldn't fire very fast like the upgraded assault rifles, giving a better chance that they would not hit friendlies. By this time Varek was crouching on the bridge railing 10 feet infront of the man staying perfectly still and waiting for the man to pass her. He did without even giving the faint glimmer he saw a second thought, at this time of day the sun would play tricks on the eye because of its rays glinting off of the water. He continued on for the outpost 20 yards ahead. However this man wouldn't make the trip. Varek ran up behind him and jabbed her knife into the side of the mans throat and retracted it impossibly fast. He fell onto the railing lifelessly, his arms hanging limply over the edge and his rifle splashing into the water. Varek reached into the mans uniform collar and pulled it inside out. She cut into the seam and pulled out a small silicon chip. She then pulled up the mans legs and tossed them over the egde plopping him into the water with a splash. It was muffled by the constant sound of the choppy river current running into the bridge columns however and no enemies were alerted. Well that was easy Varek thought as she jumped onto the railing and ran down a stretch of bridge 100 meters long. The AP mines beeped faintly as she passed signifying that they recognized the person running by as a friendly. Varek reached the next guardhouse occupied by 7 enemy soldiers all watching a small plasma screen television intent on listening to the day's battle report. The fighting had been light today. Only a few skirmishes on NC terrain. The TR had made some headway though and it pleased the troops here apparently as they cheered lightly. May have won the battle but you will never win the war punks Varek thought as she climbed onto the window sill and then onto and over the concrete outpost, running past the mines which beeped harmlessly and onto the next outpost... -------It was kinda short I'm sort of really bored right now but atleast I posted something after the longest time. Please anyone who reads this post here and tell me what you think.

Ok a little later than expected but here nonetheless.
============================== Varek reached the halfway point on the bridge and grunted faintly as she jumped up onto the next outpost roof. She panted softly and listened as the guards went about their boring conversations. "Oh yeah she was a real hot one, loooooong legs." Oh god, male bonding Varek thought as she sprinted swiftly away, after a quick reprieve. Only two more outposts to clear and things were looking good. Varek saw an easy escape route from the bridge, leading south to the mountainous area on the island. But then it happened. The Adaptive Environment Replicator failed. Basically what the AER did was take samples from the environment around the soldier in the cloaking suit, and display them on a fabric that projected light well. This created the illusion of nobody there. However when jostled it would get scattered images of the surroundings and display blurry images, which is why cloaked units are more visible when running. However in some situations it is reported by the users that the AER completely failed after very strenuous activity, such as jumping from great heights. Also very concussive explosions could damage equipment. This is exactly what happened to Varek. After the bridge explosion, and dive into the river, the suit systems became critically damaged, it was only a matter of time before they failed. The moment the failure happened Varek knew about it. As she was running and swinging her arms she could see them uncloaked. Luckily she acted quickly. Varek jumped over the ledge just as a small team of troops came out of one guard house. As she splashed into the water the troops heard and rushed over to the railing. Yet all they saw was a school of fish spluttering around one of the columns. "Well shit I thought we had an invasion on our hands boys!" one of the soldiers joked "Ah shut up," said another as he pushed him over the railing. "Uaahhhhhh" "HAHAHAHAH" "Good one!" As the unfortunate soldier hit the water he saw something on the column a few yards down. "Down that way! An enemy!" Yelled the soldier as he resurfaced, gasping for breath. The other Terrans ran to the west in the direction the soldier pointed. They lowered one man over the edge and held onto his legs so he could shoot if needed. "Nah, nothin' here!" He yelled up to the others. "Ah you jackass, you scared us," the soldiers said to the Terran in the water "I swear! I saw somethin'!" Varek blew a sigh of relief as she heard the soldiers erupting in laughter as they tried pulling the man out of the water. She had barely escaped detection. Now she had no means of hiding, except good old fashioned camoflauge and it was broad daylight now. She quickly sprinted off into a small forest 100m south of the bridge...
