as opposed to what? Yes it should be the only sniper rifle because it IS THEONLY SNIPER RIFLE. its good if youre patience, but if youre a killspam whore, don't cert it.

Frankly, I see people who use the sniper rifle as a waste of space in the poplock. If I am leading a squad and find one of the mates sitting on a hill instead of actually doing something helpful, I let them find another squad to mooch off.

Yeah sniping isn't the most fun thing to do in Planetside: sitting by your self in the distance whilst the heros are down there riskin their asses to me, planetside is about fun and action, not sniping.. but when u ask "is the bolt driver worthy of being the only sniper rifle in the game?" the answer is yes. Great zoom and power and accuracy if used carefully, balanced out with a long reload time. A sniper rifle is a gun used long range and instant effect, with good accuracy. The Bolt Driver is capable of it so yes it is worthy of being the only sniper rifle in game. Why would they add another? What's the point?

seeing as PS has no recoil factor whatsoever on any guns, there is no need for another sniper rifle, thats pretty much why IMO

maybe you're forgetting that snipers also take out spitfires, which often saves lives and eases the advance. Also, Snipers get more shit from turrets and aircraft then anyone else, its risky business out there in a big fight. They can see the enemy better then anyone else, and give us an idea of what they actually have protecting their base.

I been seeing a lot of Shotgun-snipers lately, it's amazing how accurate people can be when jumping around in a tower holding one.

Just for the record you are incredibly stupid, k?

It's called a cone of fire recoil system. The gun doesn't move but boy does it get less accurate.

Who needs accuracy at point blank?

I wouldn't add another sniper rifle simply because it'd mean re-balancing the bolt driver.... and I wouldn't want that

for the record both of you are mistaken, time for a quick lesson on firearm terminology.

SPREAD is when you continue to fire a gun thus making bullets less accurate - In PS your cone opens up

RECOIL is when the gun kicks back, thus shifting your crosshairs completely - In PS your character's aim would literally move

PS does not have RECOIL, it has SPREAD, and spread is not an issue on the bolt driver because you can't spray with it. If you have ever fired a real gun, or even played some of the more realistic FPS's out there you would understand.

THIS IT NOT THE REAL WORLD IT IS PS, IT IS NOT AND WON'T EVE BE LIKE GAMES LIKE COUNTERSTRIKE GET IT?

But if you wish to compare it to real life we shall.

Spread:
It has nothing to do with the weapon being fired over and over, it's just the random chance of a bullet going this way or that because of minute differences in mass/propelent/barrel, in real life it's is effectivly a random thing as the varriables are quite numerous. Basicaly in PS this is represented by the base Cone of fire.

Recoil:
Recoil is Newtons law of opposite reactions, you get hit with all the force that went in to pushing the bullet forward(you don't get shoved back as fast as the bullet because you wiegh alot more than the bullet force = Mass * acceleration ect.)and the only reason it has anything to do with accurcy is the people aren't strong enough to hold the power of the guns recoil without having to let it move, most often, up in the air.

Now PS simulates recoil by making the cone of fire bigger. Note how on large weapons(that would have more recoil) to cone of fire expands much faster than on a peashooter type weapon.

You can make an argument it truely is spread but true spread has nothing to do with recoil-based loss of accuracy. As if you say cemented a M4 into the ground and shot it at a target(full auto) you would not see the upward movement you would see a VERY closely grouped set of holes, a person doign the same and trying to fight the recoi would end up making a rather large grouping of holes with a slight tendancy to go upward(unless he was preaty good shooter).

It needs the spread, because then it takes
real skill for a sniper to kill moving objects, so a complete
n00b, such as myself, cant pick one up and killwhore

See now you've missed my point trying to defend your intelligence, I apologize. The discussion was about why the bolt driver is the only sniper rifle in PS. And I said because there is no "real" recoil simulation in PS, therefor there wouldn't be much benefit to adding more rifles.

If there was "real" recoil simulation, a multitude of rifles could be effectively added.

So forgive me if PS misdefines recoil just because it sounds cooler

I'd like to see another sniper style rifle if for nothing more than variety. I've always wanted to see a rifle designed for anti-armor or something like that. Something a bit more specialized would be fun. Or maybe a sort of hybrid could be introduced. A combination of BD and gauss/cycler/pulsar.

Spread is a problem with the bolt driver, when you move or stand even the chance of u hitting your target 150 meters away is very unlikely
