In-game New Player Support. (Unofficial Guide Program)

I've been chewing on this idea for a while now, and after a while of thought, I would like to help facilitate it.

Spurred by a post over on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Planetside/c...ie_support_in/

The user "Cerus" states in a single, lonesome comment: "If someone feels like organizing a mentor group in some way, I'd love to join it." So here we go...

We are going to start off with something basic. As time goes on, this will be more organized and accessible, if not swallowed/dismantled by a official SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) "Guide Program" down the road...(I saw your comment on AGN Squad Beacon Maggie!)

New Players: You will find in this post a list of Players organized by Server, and then Faction. Please add the players of your server and faction to your friends list, and simply contact them in-game and ask for assistance. Don't forget, the volunteers on this list are people like you and I. Some we get along with, some we do not. If a volunteer doesn't "jive well" with you, then please try another one and do not get discouraged. We are all here to help. If you had a positive experience with a certain player, please post in here and I will like your post under their name!

**PLEASE NOTE** This is a unofficial volunteer program, if anybody on this list acts out of line with the PS2 (Planetside 2) EULA/ToS, please report them in-game to SOE. If you have the ability, take a screen shot of the incident and e-mail it to me at [email protected]. I will then address the issue, which may or may not lead to the removal of their name from the list.

TO BE ENTIRELY CLEAR: I am not affiliated in anyway with the individuals on this list, nor am I affiliated with SOE. I will not be responsible for the actions of individuals that volunteer to be apart of this list. They may not provide the help that you request, or in a manner that you request it. That is out of my control.

Volunteers: You will be advising players on any aspect of the game your can, if not be a friendly person for them to play with while coming to grips with the game. If you would like to have your name added to the list, please respond with -

**PLEASE NOTE** This is a volunteer program. You will be putting your neck out to help others but BE MINDFUL, you will deal with a variety of people, young and old, of all different cultures and backgrounds. I'll jump in, with both feet! I love the idea, and totally, wholly support it. I just worry it might have come too late for the many people who have already tried PS2.

Anyway, here's my information for anyone who wants it;

Times I usually play: late afternoon - midnight. Tuesdays / Thursdays and Weekends. I'm a disabled Vet, so I'm attending college now. Schedule is kinda screwy but it's better than nothing!

Preference: SUPPORT! Medics / Engineers. Keeping my squad up and healed, stocked with ammo, or repaired during fights is my #1 priority. As a medic, healing and resurrecting fellow teammates always comes before engaging the enemy (unless you have no choice of course.)

So if you're interested in learning how to play the support classes, hit me up!

When in-game give a single shout (don't spam) in your warp gate "advertising" that you are available, or run a open squad with a appealing title to new players.

Just thought of a couple random things i think would help:

Common server players should friend each other regardless of empire to become familiar and share thoughts on how to help their entourage (and make new rivals,allies ).

Eventually a sort of "how to" should be written in this sub forum to help everyone get the right info across to new players or personal experiences with helping teach a particular area.

As already said, promote the idea, always guide new players to PSU and the PS2 subreddit for live and vocal sections of the PS2 community and where they can find additional info, along with video sources like Wrel, Zoran, Koolaid ect.

Sure there are other ideas to point out.
