I don't see why they shouldn't give this feature a try. I think it would make for more controlled combat, where squads would leap-frog forward, rather than zerging and shooting each other in the back. Plus it would give softies more versatility compared to MAXs. It would also allow SOE to include Bipods for weapons. |

I don't think this would add anything positive to the game. Planetside 2 is already pretty much a game that's focused on short to medium range fights, and it's also a game that simulates aiming by making you control recoil and bursting, rather than a game that simulates aiming by making you control gun bracing and breathing.
In Planetside 2 if someone saw you prone somewhere they would just go "Hey, free headshots" because this is a game where you can go from a sprint to landing a perfectly accurate shot in half a second, and it's a game where any weapon produces a tracer, so you can't use prone to hide either. Prone as a mechanic makes a lot more sense in military simulations, where if you're hustling along and someone starts popping shots at you from extreme range you need to support your gun and take some time for your characters breathing to go down before you can effectively return fire. At the very least it needs to be a game where you can stay hidden while shooting (like battlefield), if people can instantly see where you are and accurately return fire being prone has no advantage, it just slows you down so you can't get to cover. |

they should have it; it would be great for hiding ofc, and a game as big as this, it is a no-brainer they should add it in. it would be beneficial for infiltrators ofc as well, because crouching isn't enough to hide yourself from enemy fire while trying to snipe yourself. and it would help the stealthy bastards out there as well. |
