Sure, Planetside 2 is a Free-to-play game. Sure, you can spend money on items in the future cash shop to deck out your character.
But... how much money have you all spent upgrading or completely rebuilding your systems? Are you lucky enough to already have a nice rig that will run the game? I am personally struggling to decide if I want to spend the money to build a new computer that is capable of running Planetside 2. For the record, I built my current computer in the summer of 2005. My specs are an AMD Athlon FX-57, a 9800 GTX+, 4 Gigs of Corsair XMS PC3200 memory, and a 300GB Raptor. If that's not an old rig, I don't know what is. I'm willing to bet at least 40% of the Planetside player-base has spent at least $100 or more tweaking/upgrading/completely rebuilding their computers to be able to play Planetside 2. So, how much have you spent on Planetside 2? |

My PC was built in 2004. I'll likely have to spend a good 800 bucks on a new rig before being able to even start PS2.
Now if I can just save enough between now and then...But that's an upgrade I'll be using for things other than just PS2. |

My current system is:
GPU: AMD 6990 CPU: 2500k @ 4.8 RAM: 16GB PSU: Enermax galaxy 1250 watt MOBO: MSI P67A GD65 Cooling: Liquid And i am even thinking of upgrading (Mainly because i want to be able to max EVERYTHING, not just most of the stuff) also i run at 120hz (Not in 3d) so i need an average of 120 fps :P Yes i know i am insane, people tell me that a lot. |

I won't be upgrading or purchasing a new rig until I know how it runs on my current one. They've said in the past they're striving for speed (performance) above all else. That really doesn't mean shit until we know how the game runs on system.
With the F2P model one would assume that this sentiment will be true, since it will be attracting nearly anyone with a computer. Not everyone has an amazing gaming rig that they can run every game flawlessly at max settings. I'm pretty sure they took that into account when designing the game, although when I see screenshots and gameplay, I think otherwise.. |
