I'll make this as simple as possible. allow people to have manual gear instead of automatic. I've honestly never driven a tank before, and I hope not too (F-15 is more like it for me), but I know buggies, jeeps and others are much better if you have manual gear. providing of course you're a good driver and not just some rich city kid.
so... would you want to see a choice added? after all, a vanguard driver has little else to do anyway. you can add anti newB things like protecting the engine from blowing up anyone here who drove 4X4 veichles with and without stick shift will probably know what I'm talking about. hard terrain (in planetside it's pretty much the slopes) is much harder with automatic. I'm pretty sure all military vehicles, from tanks to hummers, are automatic transmission. Speciality vehicles might come in manual, but I'm not sure.
Personally, I'd be satisfied if Planetside's vehicles simply had better off road capabilities. That would probably be an easier solution than adding manual (though that idea is good too).

I also wish they were a little bit faster, and since they turbonerfed mowing I dont see any reason for them not to be faster...
And being able to blow up a full health Harasser goin 120kph hitting a tree would be incentive to drive more carefully... One thing I would really like to see though, even though it isnt real manual is a 4x4 Hi and Lo key. It wouldn't be for floating, tracked, or obviously non 4x4 vehicles... For example, the Enforcer as is is crappy at best off road, and with a 73kph top speed, its mediocre on the road. With the Hi/Lo the Hi would be how it is now, and the Lo would have a top speed of say...60 kph, but would increase climbing and acceleration by say...2x... Just a thought... |

like I said, option for stick shift. if you have an automatic IRL then you can use auto ingame, but you won't be able to max out the car.
a few years ago we had a 98 Isuzu trooper. manual of course. damn that car kicked ass. we went on a 4 day jeep trip in jordan with 10 other jeeps. it was VERY easy to see who had automatic. I like full control of my car. and yeah, I want to be able to go into low gear, climb a hill and then when I'm on road accelerate quickly. maybe driving will actually require skill now, you never know... |
