The new sneak peak of the CGI Trailer later to be released later on the 23rd
My question for everyone and SOE is who is to see this, what is the purpose, and was this money well spent? Personally I think this was made to be shown mainly to Asia and Chinese markets because I know they really dig that kind of stuff. If not them maybe during sporting or some kind of TV ad for the game. The purpose maybe to push the hyper train closer to release to get more people excited for the game. This has a Korean made (EDIT) For Asian and South Seas countries for the large Cyber Cafes gaming hubs feeling so its possibility for them getting some kind of esports push, because they are a big cash cow(In China). I don't think this is well spent, but I guess they have the budget to make it since it is already made. I'd rather see more coders and artist hired for getting more work done. I know there is a worry in the community that they are trying to appeal to the Chinese market more then the US market, I don't think this will happen because its a US based company. But please tell me what you think. Last edited by UnDeAdKiTtY; 2012-07-18 at 03:31 PM. |

I think it is well spent. This is the trailer people are gonna see on tv and in youtube ads, not gameplay footage. The point is to make something exciting that's gonna make people google it.

What's wrong with trailers? They do wonders for hype, and most of them can serve double duty as in-game or pre-game splash window cut scenes.
Look at how much hype the SWTOR trailers provided. Last edited by Sephirex; 2012-07-18 at 03:33 PM. |

I agree for commercials
Plus I remember when I first got WoW...that stupid CG intro got me all pumped to play the game. I visualized myself as being one those guys in the video. I only got wow because friends told me to get it. I was a pure FPS guy back then, so I wasn't too excited going into it...until I saw the intro. Its odd how that works. So yea, it helps players visualize themselves and the battle around them. Its like concept art for your brain. It primes your imagination to be awesome while playing. And all this helps to draw new people into the concept of planetside.

I think it was very well spent.
As we all know PS1's biggest problem was the lack of proper advertisment. This CG studio that made the trailer has also made the best trailers I've ever seen for other games. That will be a huge push for PS2's publicity and is far better than the ingame trailers they have done so far.

A drunk hobo sat down on the side of a side street in the pouring rain , with a wet strip of cardboard with Planetside2 written on it with a crayon would be more advertisement than ps1 ever had from soe.
The new cg trailer is more than I ever expected, and the franchise deserves it imo. |

It was in all probability made to market the game to fresh audiences, and I see no reason why money should not be spent on marketing.
We see this sort of thing all the time, I don't know why this case would be any different. |

It's there to dupe Call of Brownandbloom fans into thinking that Planetside 2 is going to be another dank and dreary shooter.
Once they actually get in game and partake in some massive battles, they will learn to love color. |
