OH WOW!
"The V.S.’s standard anti-vehicle weapon uses the same battery-powered ammunition system as the Pulsar and Beamer. Unlike the faster firing and unguided Lancer, the Fission features a slower plasma projectile guided by lock-on technology. |

A lock-on weapon. As a VS player I'm disgusted. Make it laser guided like the NC weapon.

And I made posts in the past about how I'd prefer all factions have flak and laser guided AA (with player controlled detonation) among other posts. I've never been a big fan of lock-on weapons. It's kind of a lazy weapon for a "skilled" FPS game.
Flak has a lot of variables. Speed, rate of fire, spread among other things that really varies its range and usefulness. I hope the developers keep that in mind.

Interesting. At the moment I'm thinking that this means there will be at least 2 AV weapons per empire. There's no reason for them to reference the Lancer if it isn't in the game, it would only confuse people not familiar with the original.
Given the lock on nature of it, I wonder if this is intended to be one of the infantry AA weapons that they promised. Edit: Also, it looks awesome. |

That's why I love the Lancer so much. Last edited by SurgeonX; 2012-02-24 at 07:57 PM. |

Im with you though, i still think the most effective counter measure to air vehicles should be flak emplacements. Preferably manned, but it always annoys me that theyre the first thing to go during a base assault. Hopefully Air turrets will stick around until the bases shields are dropped. I dont want o be running to man a turret only to see it blown up by 8 incoming reavers. |
